That opening was great. Patton addressing his troops.
This is in honor of George C. Scott's birthday. |

The opening was excellent, but I remember liking scenes that involved "Monty". I enjoyed the simple scene where he blew on a mirror and used a finger to compose a battle plan. I also liked when he marched into Messina but saw that Patton already took the city. I think I read that some of that was not factual.

Even though it appears this is not as it happened in real life, I thought this was a good scene.
In the 1970 movie Patton, Patton says, "Rommel, you magnificent *******. I read your book!". |

In the scene where Patton is working his horse and answering reporters and they ask about his political stance. He comments that being a registered democrat or republican is no different than being a member of the communist party. I have looked every where to see if he actually said that or something remotely like it. I've found nothing.

I like the various scenes from the German headquarters, when Patton was being discussed. It showed how Patton was viewed from the perspective of his enemy and as I understand it, was pretty accurate, at least in tone. The Germans apparently had a lot of respect for Patton, more than for any other American general, and was viewed by them as "America's Guderian" for the way he fought.

You should get “War as I knew it” by George S. Patton.

Went to see it at Fort Bragg with a "Tanker". Best scene for me was when the "spearhead" tanks came to a road intersection and the Military Police were already there to tell them which way to turn. I'm a retired MP :-)

In my career as New Products Development Manager, I have often used these two favorite Patton quotes -
"If everybody is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking." "Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity." |

My favorite scene was Patton pulling out his 2 pearl-handled pistols and shooting at an attacking enemy plane, while other US soldiers ran for cover.

He also dared them to shoot his nose.

I want you to know that no ******* ever won a war by dying for his country. He won the war by making the other ******* die for his country.
