I did take a year of Spanish at the College of San Mateo in San Mateo, CA through night classes. I had about six Nicaraguan neighbors in Belmont who I could sometimes hear through the apartment wall but they often spoke so quickly that it was hard to understand them.

The town of Belmont went ecstatic when the Niners won the Superbowl in January of 1985. They were playing about eight miles south of there at Stanford Stadium.
