I found many of Sam Peckinpah's movies very interesting.

Hands down, Sunset Boulevard - regarded by many film historians as one of the greatest films of all time. Holden is brilliant in this, and was nominated for an Oscar. Runner-up would be his iconic performance in Network, which also earned him an Oscar nomination.
