If you have XM, try Deep Tracks channel. Stuff from popular bands that didn't get played every ten minutes on the radio back in the day.

Default Music Lover

I am regularly made fun of by my musically challenged buddies because of my "eclectic taste", but just like you, I love all music. Get Spotify and look me up. brewingtondan is my id and you will be able to see all the playlists I have created. The Spotify Discover Weekly is a wonderful thing for getting new stuff. In the interim, check out the Screemin Cheetah Wheelies and anything Mike Farris has done on his own, especially Salvation in Lights album. I am a board member of The Villages Blues Society as well. Check us out at The Villages Blues Society - Home We see some tremendous live music brought right here to the Villages.

Get SiriusXM. They have it all. Do your research and see what you like.

Man, I don't know where to begin. This thread is chock full of great suggestions. I have made several of my own playlists on Amazon Music and dial them up as I feel it. From 70's , 60's, classical, spiritual, jazz. You can add songs to specific genres as you discover them. These posts have given me lots of new ideas to broaden my musical horizons. Thanks all.

I’ve gotten into groups like Bonobo, Air, M83, Autograf, Zero7, Petit Biscuit- all kinds of Chill Electronic from Amazon Music. I was working weekend shifts at a hospital with a long commute. That playlist got me safely home in a much better mood.

Try the Tedeschi Trucks Band...has a bit of everything...elements of blues, jazz, southern rock (Derek Trucks is the best slide guitarist on the planet), soul, gospel....very cool band and one of the best to see live whenever that option occurs again.

If you're open to jazz, try this one. I play it on my computer while I do my surfing, etc.

I mean, it's kind of a weird question, if you think about it. Jazz is absolutely an alternative to classic rock. So is opera. And so is Tuvan throat singing (which I personally believe everyone capable of hearing, should hear at least once in their lives: Tuvan Throat Singing - YouTube )

I think I get stuck on the word "alternative." The implied question, by using that word is: What music is not classic rock? The answer is: everything else.
Hmm. Everybody else seems to understand what the op meant, and provide very good feedback. But then you have a gift for over-complicating almost every topic, so...mission accomplished.

By the way, Davonu, Amazon Music has a station called “Top Alternative”. It’s actually pretty good. (Just a heads up...a bit explicit sometimes.)
