The Beatles new track released!
Thanks to a lot of technology, we've got a new Beatles song!
"Titled “Now and Then,” the almost impossible-to-believe track is four minutes and eight seconds of the first and only original Beatles recording of the 21st century. There’s a countdown, then acoustic guitar strumming and piano bleed into the unmistakable vocal tone of John Lennon in the song’s introduction." God, that's awful!
All trash should stay thrown away, but that was like examining a reconstruction of the racing stripe in a pair of Lennon's 43-year-old dirty underwear! Must we destroy all of our heroes? |

Yeah. Sounded pretty lame to me.

I don't know. Not to be negative, but the memories to me are more preferable than the realities. Going back in time (in this case, to a time that never really was) just doesn't work.
One of my first real memories of listening to the Beatles was at a get-together with some good friends from High School at a resort owned by one of those friend's parents. Minnesota, late April, and the resort hadn't yet opened for the season. One of the people had brought a Beatles LP: I don't know which one but one of the earliest ones. I'd heard Beatles music before via radio but that was the first time I'd heard it in real stereo and the sound was amazing. Of course a glass or two of wine helped the ambience. But the point is that I can hear those same songs today, and even remastered (which I hate because it is so artificial), and the essential amateurishness of the recording is what stands out to me. They belonged to a time, and to a memory, and I can't go back there. |

Really awesome. So nice to hear John Lennon's voice. He's missed dearly. And great to see Paul and Ringo together.
For the negative comments, this was a demo vocal left behind by John. This was not meant to be a song. Judging it in that context doesn't make sense. This is like finding a Picasso that he discarded. Doesn't need to be a masterpiece. We're lucky to have this extra work of art. And 45 years after John's untimely death, it's a remembrance of the past and a taste of what could have been. Truly awesome |
