Default Doo Wop Generations

Just watched the PBS special, Doo Wop Generations, a collection of the old groups and next generation that is keeping the music alive. The question is, how many of our next generations will have an appreciation for that music or will it disappear?

Doo Wop is alive and well here in The Villages. Try Doo Wop on the Porch Sat. mornings at 9:30 for vintage records and live entertainment. Forever Young sock hop 3/23 with guest singers M & M will give you some oldies and doo wop that you haven't heard in a while. We try to keep the sound and songs alive. Enjoy!

I hope it disappears... and I wish The Villages would play a larger variety of music. Age ranges for Villagers are 50-90+.
I like 70's music...

I grew up with doo-wop and love it!

To each his own...

I don't hear much doo-wop in The Villages, mostly rock. Music is all generational, we like what we grew up with. Wonder if heavy metal and rap will be heard here in another 20 years or so since they will be the incoming generations.

If you like doo wop and want to hear it live check out the Dorels. They play at various functions in The Villages.

I do agree with you Chi. They are a great group AND they are all Villagers. Did you know that they are doing a show 5/5/18 @ Rohan. Check out their website.the dorels.com.

Here's a video I shot March 9, 2013 at Brownwood. It's not great, I had a small palm-size camera and I was using the video option for the first time and was sitting in the bleachers. Of all the doo-whop groups, the Flamingos are probably my favorite so we made sure to go. They were appearing free that night, they didn't come out until about 9pm. It was a Florida Lottery event and there was the biggest crowd I had ever seen at Brownwood until then and even until this year when I caught a Johnny Wild show about a month ago on a Saturday. There were people everywhere and the Lottery was giving out prizes all day and night. The Lottery events since then at LSL haven't compared to that night.

Thanks for sharing. That must have been a fun night. And who doesn't have fond memories of their incredible version of I Only Have Eyes For You.
