Oh nooooooooo, another week of Kristy. Please let her wear a shirt and not try to make another Lennon and McCartney song into a hoedown. :barf:

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

I think Kristy should have gone home tonight, I agree with Chels!

I was thinking David A would win the season, but now he is starting to get on my nerves.
He is like a gecko, cute, but could become annoying.

I am starting to like Jason. I know he doesn't have a chance of winning, he is weird and has no social skills, and the dreads don't help. But there is something rather sweet about him. Reminds me a bit of John Travolta.

Barefoot, I like Jason too. He seems like he has the sweetest soul.

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

The problem at this point is that next week is almost pointless. Kristy will go next week unless she is outstanding and i don't think that is possible. Just rehearsal for the rest.

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

Oh No! Kristy is still here!!! :yikes:
Missed the show last night ,had to pick up the captain at airport. A harrowing experience(but that's another thread).
I was sure Kristy would be gone. I wanted to block my ears while she sang.Let's face it, this week's performances were forgettable for all except Chakeeze (sp)who really took a chance and showed some musical style of his own.
Jason is hard to read. I think he has a unique voice and style but not for AI. He is cute but odd.
They all better step up or what I thought would be a stellar season is fading fast.

I had chosen David Archuleta and Syesha Mercado as my favorites when the poll began but I seem to be getting stronger feelings for some of the other contestants. Like Carly Smithson now more than Syesha Mercado. Still think David Archuleta will win unless he gets too big- headed to rehearse enough like it looked like on Monday night and someone else steals the show like David Cook or Michael Johns.

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

The March 21, 2008 issue of Entertainment Weekly has an article on American Idol. It gives odds on the AI winner:

Kristy Lee Cook is at 500-1
Chikezie is at 250-1
Amanda Overmyer is at 100-1
Syesha Mercado is at 25-1
Ramiele Malubay is at 20-1
Michael Johns is at 15-1
David Hernandez is at 12-1
David Cook is at 10-1
Brooke White is at 8-1
Carly Smithson is at 5-1
Jason Castro is at 7-2
David Archuleta is at 2-1

This is on pages 31 through 32.

Think they have many of these wrong, but we will find out soon enough. Their 12-1 pick David Hernandez is already gone. I would be surprised if Jason Castro lasts more than a few more weeks.

David Archuleta and Carly Smithson..... wav wav

I am not quite as brave as you beady. I will choose the top 4 finalists as the 2 David's and Carly and Amanda. David Cook is not necessarily my favorite but he is getting better each week. Love Syeesha, but she needs to step it up. Chickease was by far the best this week, but can he do it again? Love to watch Michael Johns...yup just like to watch him.

And they say guys are shallow!

I ditto Beady's choices - DA and CS.

D. Cook (may end up being the most successful) will have a career but won't be the winner. Kristy Cook has an outside chance to be a country singer but will be off Idol next week. John's will have a career only if he makes it to the final 3 or 4.

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

:agree: Beady. The last two I expect will be David Archuleta and Carly Smithson.

The third and fourth places are quite a bit harder to predict. There's a lot of variables by that time like the Filipino vote if Ramiele Malubay is still in the running and the various geographical loyalties each contestant seems to pick up from their hometowns and their vicinities. Then there's the sex appeal of the contestants and whatever fan base like Taylor Hick's Soul Patrol they might develop.

Still have no idea how Taylor Hicks won a few AI seasons back??

Bottom three tonight on American Idol
>:( :

Kristy Lee Cook, Chikezie, Amanda Overmyer?

Think it is pretty much a 90-1 shot that Kristy Lee Cook will go tonight?

Agree that Michael Johns was not that good last night either but his sex appeal will probably keep him sailing through to around the top 6 or so.

Think that the top 6 will be -- David Archuleta, David Cook, Michael Johns, Brooke White, Syesha Mercado and Carly Smithson.

IMHO...... they were all forgetable last night.

Who would have thought that the beatles songs would be so hard to interpret.

Considering they are really the first musicians to be able to use the music commercially we maybe should be a bit more forgiving.

Still think it will be David A. and Carly, David Cook 3rd.

Probably had something to do with their getting used to the head phones they were wearing supposedly for the first time on that stage. The judges seemed to talk about this at least the ones who had been performers themselves like Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson.

Cook seems to be getting quite an audience re-action even though he seemed rather weak last night.

Pleeeeaassseeeee let Kristy go tonight! I thought little David did a great job on The Long and Winding Road, but then again, it's one of my favorite songs. You're all right though, it was kind of a flat night. I still love to watch Amanda and loved her comments to Simon. I really don't know why he didn't like Blackbird by Carly Smithson, I thought it was very good. I think you're right about David A, Carly Smithson, and David Cook. I didn't really like David Cook at first, but he's becoming quite the performer. I still think Michael Johns may find his place because he does have a great voice and sure has the charisma. We'll see, this show never ceases to surprise me. But I love it!

Barefoot 03-19-2008 11:02 PM

Little David is starting to be a little too cute, almost smarmy. But I think the teeny boppers (are they still called that?) will continue to love him. Kristy definitely need to go home. I think Jason is a dark horse and might surprise everyone. Michael Johns is definitely yummy.

Really surprised by Carly Smithson being in the bottom three last night.

Have to factor in the tattoos on her and her husband I guess? If they keep showing her husband's various facial tattoos while he is in the audience cheering her on this may cost her votes. I do not think America is ready for facial tattoos. http://www.pacificnews.org/jinn/stor...7-tattoos.html

beady 03-20-2008 04:29 PM

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

Wow! I was really caught off guard with Carly sitting in the bottom 3. Thank goodness she made it.

Tal: I think you are right about Amanda, America is not ready for the tattoos, hers or her husbands. That then concerns me with Carly, cause she has one upper arm completely done. Her voice may be the ticket to carry her through.

That leaves Kristy, she is hanging on by a thread, one can only hope.

Barefoot is right David A is getting just a bit to cute. However, remember Jordan Sparks , she was accused of being to cute and look what happened.

Last of all Brooke White, great voice but totally lacking in stage presence, she could be a contender with some coaching.

I just wish Dancing WTS and AI weren't on at the same time. I might have a nervous breakdown switching channels. evil6

I can't believe that Kristy made the top ten and Amanda was cut. That means Kristy will be on tour with them. :verymad:

Anyway, I can't wait to see how they work with their mentors. Have great people this year. Guess David A. is still in the lead. Oh well, I always knew Amanda wouldn't win anyway, but I wish she had lasted a few more weeks. >:( Still love watching Michael Johns! :-*

Did not realize that Amanda Overmyer would be out of the Top Ten American Idol tour. Thought it was the Top 12 that toured. Guess I am wrong on that score.

Think Overmyer's choice of song of "Back in the USSR" hurt her as some people might have thought that this really meant she wanted to be back in the USSR.

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

Top 10 tour. I can imagine that some may wish that they didn't make the top 10 if all they get is the drudgery of that tour. Most would have to lose their day job if they had one. Amanda is a nurse - she's probably happy to be off the show at this point - she wasn't going to have a career in singing - IMHO.

You see some of these people reliving their past glories on rewind shows of AI. They seem to have paid positions --some of them-- from which to do this.

Wow another boring night for Idol. :( :(

The real star tonight was David Cook, he took a great song and made it his own. Clever guy and on his way to stardom.

Brooke made a great save with the restart and actually got a compliment from Simon!!!!!

All the other performances were awful. Just MHO

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

:agree: I didn't like David Cook at first, but I really loved his performance tonight. He seems to be getting better every week. Still like Michael Johns, he's a cutie! David is starting to sound like everythings the same to me. Don't know if he'll win anymore. Still could do withough Chikeeze and Kristy goes without saying. (But, she was tolerable tonight.) Maybe it's because I like that song. :dontknow:

Russ_Boston 03-26-2008 10:46 AM

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

As i mentioned earlier - David Cook will have a career from this even if he doesn't win. I think Michael Johns will suffer once he runs out of Queen songs, has sex appeal only. Carly wasn't great and may be bottom three again. David A. was the same and that is a problem - always the same, not sure what kind of career he could have. This may influnce the judges to start putting him down enough that America gets tired of him.

David Cook did a fabulous job with his remake of Billie Jean. That was smokin!

Bottom three tonight? Chikezie , Ramiele Malubay and Kristy Lee Cook??

Kristy Lee Cook's smart song choice will probably save her this week. She did a good job with it.

Kind of expect Chikezie will be out tonight?

Do not understand the appeal of Jason Castro but expect he will be with AI for a few more weeks.

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

Tal: Chic magnetic is Jason's appeal, especially with those drop dead gorgeous eyes, but he is a boring songster.

I agree Chikezie is gone tonight, Ramiele will get a pass cause she was ill, and Kristy will coast on a good song choice.

If you are going to sing songs in foreign languages like Mr. Castro does, you should be able to at least pronounce the words in them right. Jason Castro does not seem to have a good ear for foreign languages or maybe it is a tongue??

Of course, the teenage girl voters and fans probably could not tell how off his French and Spanish pronunciation seemed to be.

Hi Minty! Thanks for posting Chris Cornell's version. I love it! I've heard it before, so I know that David Cook didn't come up with this himself. I have to admit he did a good job though, just don't think he should get credit for arrangment. We'll see who go's tonight! Please let it be Kristy Lee Cook or Chacakeeze! :o
