Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
Back to American Idol, you think that Kristy Lee Cook will be the next to go no matter how well she sings this coming week? Her competition is something fierce by this time.
Noted that Chikezie Eze's birthday is September 11. Tough bithday to have for an American. >:( I have had some trouble with mine just because of one particularly nasty murder of the daughter of my then Earl Wooster High School remedial English teacher on my birthday of February 24 in 1976 in Reno, Nevada. Cannot imagine what this would be like for someone with a birthday of 9-11 on which about 3000 people were brutally murdered by the use of airplanes as manned missiles. Had noticed that Chikezie Eze's id number during one of the auditions (?) was # 613. Took interest in that. ;) Of course, some really delusional worst of the week kind of auditioners also had similar #s to these over the past few seasons of the first few weeks of AI. |
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
What'd ya'll think about last nites AI??
Hate to admit it, but I thought Kristy Lee Cook was one of the better ones. And David A. He (as usual) did a great job. Didn't know or like David Cook's song at all, tho I guess he sang it OK. ??? Didn't think Brooke did that great, I agreed with Simon, pleasant at best. Liked Carly's song, and Syesha's. An ok show for me, nothing really grabbed me tho. Maybe my expectations were too high. |

Bottom three I expect will be Brooke White, Syesha Mercado, and Carly Smithson. Of course, I was off last week and only got one of the bottom 3 right. Hopefully, the voters will keep Kristy Lee Cook out of the bottom three this week. Brooke White I see as the one leaving tomorrow night. I heard that modern version of Over the Rainbow sung by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole in some recent movie -- 50 First Dates Jason Castro sung this Over the Rainbow version last night on AI. Hope they go way over the $76 million they got in last year's "Idol Gives Back". |
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
See that the original singer of the modern version of Over the Rainbow Israel Kamakawiwo'ole died at 38 in 1997. That's too bad. :( Bet he would have liked to have seen an American Idol contestant do his version to that many people who watch AI.
|
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
50 First dates was set in HI so i assume he was Hawaiian. I liked the movie and that version of the song. 95% chance that Brooke is gone!
|
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
Well I hate to admit it too, but Kristy did a good job. I like Brooke, but I thought she was boring. Her sad expressions are beginning to get on my nerves. Thought David Cook wasn't good at all! But, little David came through as usual. And I still love watching Michael Johns :-* I thought the best of the evening was Jason Castro. He's really got a very good voice when he puts his mind to it! LOL He's so layed back. Very sweet though. I agree that Carly's performance did sound angry. And I wouldn't mind if they lost Syesha. My opinion would be bottom three: Syesha, Brooke, and Carly. Do we get to know tonight or Thurs.? :dontknow:
|
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
I was unimppressed with them all. I guess I agree with Simon, now they have to step up and really perform. If I had to choose the best last night it would be David A,Kristy, and Jason, but they were not exceptionally good.
I think Simon was right about David C, a bit to cocky to pick that song(which is rather obscure) I am at a loss about who will leave on Thurs. night. Carly was rattled and not very good, Brooke.... almost beyond nervous. The karma was off for all of them. I do not usually agree with Simon so much, but he was right on last night. Paula is just to nice and fails to give any real advise or criticism. Randy falls somewhere in between. |

Right now I think the only music I would buy of these singers would be that of David Archuleta and Carly Smithson. Think Smithson will be the break-out artist of the bunch??? |
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
:agree:
Chels, Yep, Brooke is starting to bug me too with that sad look, and was boring. Beady, I'm with you on agreeing with Simon all night. I hate that David Cook sucked, he's capable of so much more. Terrible song choice! And Tal, I wouldn't buy nuthin' from last nights show!! :barf: No one impressed me either. A ho-hum night. Hope Brooke goes... Will find out Thursday nite... |
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
Whoa...they kicked off Michael JOhns????? That's just wrong.
|
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
Big surprise on the AI results show tonight. Michael Johns off. Did not see that one coming and it did not look like he did nor any of the other AI contestants.
|
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
http://www.millan.net/minimations/sm...crysmiley1.gif I can't believe Michael Johns is gone! And that dopey Syesha, Brooke, yeeeksss! Well, my vote will go to little David A. Still can't stand looking at David Cooke! Wow, this show bottomed out for me. :verymad: And Kristy Lee Cooke is STILL around. Michael . . .http://www.millan.net/minimations/sm...dhugsmiley.gifMichael . . . come back . . .
|
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
Michael Johns is gone? :dontknow: My favourite eye candy was voted off? I just cannot believe that America voted him off. Their phone system must have been broken. Glad I was Freezing and missed it.
Think I'll boycott American Idol. Thank heavens Gray's Anatomy is due back soon. Michael, we miss you! |
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
Really thought the lady contingent would have kept Michael Johns on for at least a few more weeks.
Jason Castro and Kristy Lee Cook this week doing so well kind of threw me for a loop with my predictions. Kind of hard to predict who will be in the top three at the end of the line of this season's AI. David Archuleta more than likely will be in it but the other two have no good idea. Guessing Jason Castro and David Cook, but who knows?? |
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
I think that if you listened with your ears only then the result would not be that surprising.
Eye candy for the ladies? Yes. Ear candy for the rest of us? No. I'm not saying that he is worse then Brooke or Kristy but basically he has no range. He sang Queen songs well and that was about it. Completely butchered the song this week. I'm not positive that any of the contestants this year will have a great career. Maybe David C or Carly S. The others are too one note for me including David A. who has a great voice but do we really need another Michael Buble in this world? |
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
Like Michael Steven Bublé but do not see David Archuleta reaching that level of success unless it is using the American Idol PR wagon.
Carly Smithson seems to have the nicest voice. I try to watch some of these singers with my eyes averted from the TV so that I am not tempted to go with the eye candy flow. |
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
Exactly TAL - Only room for one Buble style crooner at a time :joke:

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
On the radio today on the way to Doggie Doo Run Run, the DJ said that TiVo has predicted the person who gets the boot for the past 5 weeks. They do this by tracking how many times a contestant is TiVoed, I suppose.
Thought of Brooke White as being eye candy for the most part but suppose I would rather see a male sex symbol like Michael Johns get the boot rather than one of the very attractive female contestants like Brooke White, Syesha Mercado, and Kristy Lee Cook. |
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
Idol will not be the same without Michael. Makes me very sad. I will watch when we get home. Tivo-ed it all.
|
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
Not sure if the DJ I was listening to this morning on the way to the Doggie Doo Run Run is correct as from this web-site at least TiVo predicted that Syesha Mercado would go yesterday. http://www.perfectlypetersen.com/200...an-idol-top-8/
The DJ had said that TiVo had been correct on their picks of who would get be off for the past 5 weeks in a row. |
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
Was anyone else as impressed as I was with Fergie on the Idol Gives Back show??
WOW!! I have always liked her and thought she was talented, but she blew me away singing with Heart. And when she did that one handed cartwheel, Twice, so effortlessly while singing, I was shocked!!! Loved it! Very Impressive performance. |
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
Yes, that was impressive, Mintjulep.
|
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
Anyone know how much " Idol Gives Back" has made this go around? :dontknow: http://www.americanidol.com/idolgivesback/

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
Who will it be tonight? I mean who graces the AI stage as a running AI7 contestant for the last time tonight?
Sort of going with my usual suspects of Carly Smithson and Syesha Mercado. Kristy Lee Cook has been doing such a smart job of song choice, dress, and other presentation factors that I see Brooke White as also being in the bottom three along with Mercado & Smithson. Think Carly Smithson will be going?? Saw that there is a James Smithson in the running as one of the top 20 songwriters in AI's songwriting contest. http://www.americanidol.com/news/ Wonder if this is Carly's face tattooed husband??? Do think that Carly Smithson has the best voice of the female AI contestants this year though. |
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
(Sigh) After Michael Johns leaving, boy did that show seem boring to me! I always watch it until the end, but it seemed soooooo boring last night. :( Guess I'll vote for little David A. The rest did nothing for me at all. Please, please please, let it be Kristy Lee Cooke that goes tonight. I can't believe she made it this far. :verymad: But I'll settle for any of the women. I love Carly's voice, but she just can't get rid of those goofy faces she makes. Wouldn't enjoy seeing any of them in person. I only would have paid to see Michael Johns or Amanda.

That does look like Carly Smithson's husband James is in the top 20 for the AI Songwriter contest with the song Align?? |
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
I hope Brooke leaves tonight. IMHO, I thought she didn't do well last night.
Where WAS that beef!! or the condiments!! :dontknow: I'm not a fan of Kristy Lee Cook, but think she has been better the last 2 weeks. Thought David A was the best by far. :#1: And as much as I usually like David C, I didn't love his version last night, even tho the judges did. Mariah songs were probably hard for the guys. As long as neither David leaves, I'll be ok with the choice. Otherwise I'll be bored too, like you Chels, since MJ left. I thought Mariah was very nice last night. She was kind, helpful and a confidence booster to all the contestants. |

I think Idol's phone computer system must be broken. I still can't believe Michael Johns was voted off. I guess David Cook would have to be my choice now. The other David is immensely talented, but just too cutesy. Like a smiley face. ;D |

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
Maybe the AI fans are getting smarter with respect to judging how talent is packaged and not just going by the cover of the book so to speak. Carly Smithson if she were a book would be something rather dark but she does seem to have the best voice of the female singers.
The fans actually got who sang the worst Tuesday night in the bottom three--Syesha Mercado, Brooke White, and Kristy Lee Cook. Still kind of surprised that it was not Brooke W. or Syesha Mercado who left. ;D |

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Kristy Lee Cook is gone!!!!! Now on to the rest of the show! p.s. I do hope she gets her horse back though. That would be nice if that man would return it. lovehorse |

This show is an great platform for launching new talents even if it also makes stars of people like William Hung. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Hung |
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
Tal, it's terrible to say, but I think you probably read it already, that William Hung committed suicide. Some people just can't take the pressure I guess. It's sad.

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
Who is so twisted that they would start a rumor about someones death. Beyond my comprehension!
Kristy is gone and that is not a surprise. I was pretty sure she couldn't handle a Myriah song. Brooke didn't do much bette. Syeesha was not good which was a surprise, she should have handled Myriah vocals pretty well. David Cook, again , put on his spin and it was good. Jason, surprisingly wasn't bad either. David A, getting way to "gooey" for my taste. Good voice, yes, stage presence , not so good. I think it is going to be very interesting here on out. |

Still see David Archuleta as winning this season just because of the fan base he appeals to which more than likely makes up a lot of the voters. He seems to have the backing of many of the parents of kids who watch AI regularly as well as the kids. |
Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant
Oh, I'm soooooo happy that that article on William Hung was a hoax. I felt so bad. But what a cruel thing to do. Some people . . . :edit:
