Default Favorite Eric Clapton song?

I saw him with my brother and double cousin in Tempe, AZ around the Summer of 1974.

Really love Layla.

True story, I was snorkeling in a bay (if my memory is correct, it was Jumbie Bay) on the USVI of St. John many many years ago. There wasn’t a lot of corals on the sandy bottom, but I came across a bunch is sea turtles and followed them way out to the open waters in the mouth of the bay where a couple of boat were moored. I was free diving and swimming with the turtles, and when I surfaced I came up next to a boat. The boat was named “Slowhand” and Eric Clapton was sitting on the boat watching me. He called out to me to be sure I was OK and asked if I needed to board the boat for a rest and a bottle of water. In such a private and peaceful setting he was just a regular guy being very nice and friendly. I thanked him and told him I was fine. We chatted briefly and he was very interested in what sea life I was seeing. It was a cool experience. And I agree, Layla is my favorite song.

Default Eric

My favorite other than Layla, with its famous guitar solo, is" In A White Room." I believe today is Clapton's 80th trip around the sun. I guess you all know about his family tragedy. His toddler son fell to his death from Claptons' apartment window. He wrote "Tears in Heaven" in rememberance of that accident.

I'm just hoping he lives long enough.

Tears in heaven. In my hard rock band years in the late 60’s thru the early 80’s, we would play a lot of Cream songs.

"The Core". also agree with "Let it Grow"...many top songs are great but were overplayed.
