List of songs written by Irving Berlin - Wikipedia

I was amazed! God Bless America, White Christmas and Easter Parade are my favorites but I love many others.

I had no idea the man was so prolific! According to the article he composed music for 60 years for an (arbitrary) number of 1,200 individual songs. My favorites (in no particular order) are Blue Skies, Puttin' on the Ritz, and White Christmas.

I found the list fascinating from the perspective of "art imitating life", and so much of Mr. Berlin's music reflected the time-period in which it was written. His songs encompassed two world wars so a lot of his music was themed for those times. Also, "I like Ike" (and "I Still Like Ike") are obviously written for a pretty narrow time period. But in just going over the list, regardless of the quality of the music, just how many of his song titles would never have made the cut today for various reasons? Here is my arbitrary list of such songs:

A Man to Cook For
Always Treat Her Like a Baby
Business For a Good Girl is Bad
Chase All Your Cares and Go to Sleep, Baby
Come Along Sextette
De Tant Amour-De Tant D’Ivresse
Easter Parade
Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
Goodbye, Girlie, And Remember Me
Harem Life
He’s a Rag Picker
I Hate You
I Left My Door Open and My Daddy Walked Out
If You Don’t Want My Peaches (You’d Better Stop Shaking My Tree)
I’m an Indian, Too
In My Harem
It Takes an Irishman to Make Love
Just Another Kill
Lady of the Evening
Lock Me in Your Harem and Throw Away the Key
Look Out for That Bolsheviki Man
My Wife’s Gone to the Country (Hurrah! Hurrah!)
Sex Marches On
Take a Little Wife
The Ten Best Undressed Women in the World
To My Mammy
We’ll All Be in Heaven When the Dollar Goes to Hell
You’re a Sucker for a Dame

Seems as if we lose a lot when we censor art.
