Default George Jones dies at age 81

It looks like George is gone. I really love his music. What a voice he had!

Didn't know George Jones died and that he was 81. Indeed he had a great voice and some of his songs especially around the time of divorce from Tammy Wynette were top notch. Tammy was great too. Will keep on listening to him. Many of the great country singers of the 50s and 60s are leaving us.

When you look up Country Music in your Funk and Wagnals, or newer modes, you will see his picture. WSM played 100% possum music yesterday and it must have been a sad day in Nashville. The NY Times had a splendid article yesterday of his life of ups and downs. He formerly lived in Lakeland...

My father is a big country music fan, and he was a little sad when I told him about this last night. I read George Jones' obituary in the New York Times; he had quite a "colorful" life. Lots of the country music singers my father enjoyed from the 50's, 60's and 70's are now singing in that big honky tonk in the sky...

He use to live just down the road from our Sub division in Franklin, TN. Every Christmas he and his wife Nancy put on a spectacular Christmas Display at their home. Another one of the old talents gone.

I think the most romantic song ever is "He Stopped Loving Her Today".

While I was never a real big country music fan, I do know this. He was a giant! That voice seemed to be perfect for every song he sung.
