I am not aWVLG640 listener. In fact I seldom listen to the radio when I am in the car alone. We had SIRIUS for 3 years but discovered that FM offered about the same music and talk shows. so we cancelled a year ago and they have been trying to get us back since.
I like music from every era 30's, 40's 0's 60's 70's 80's 90's 20's. I do not like Dixieland, Rap ,Hip Hop |

Rap and hip hop are not my cup of tea. Can't comapare to the Sinatra's, Fitzgeralds and Bennett's of the music industry.

Of course it has changed and it will continue to change as the demographics. The average age of a Villages resident is 62. That places us, musically in the 60s. However, there are still a lot of people here younger than that and their music is of the 70s.
In forty years, WVLG will be playing Justin Bieber and Rhianna.

Your right I am not a Beatle fan, I happened to live in England at the time when they were around. They played copied a lot of already hit songs, plain and simple they lucked out. Lennon/McCartney were the artists, the other two tagged along. Honestly there music can easily be played non stop within 12 hrs. Ringo Star a drummer come-on.

place yourself in the shoes of the music programmer for WVLG. You have an audience of over 100k residents and your primary goal is to provide news and information of the community. What would YOU program to appease all 100k listeners?

Woohoo! Some newer music! Maybe I will start listening now. I always felt they played music for my parents' generation (my dad is 80 now).

Me too. I play CD's so I don't have to hear the older music.

I don't mind their music choices and enjoy the variety. I just wish there were more music and fewer commercials. Sometimes it is nonstop advertising for homes, golf pro shops, businesses, etc. We all know how wonderful it is to live here, so the interviews with "the man on the street" merely serve to promote TV to prospective buyers. In the year since we've lived here, it seems to have become worse. WVLG gets less and less of my time.

In my car CDs rule!
Typically, my music includes: Rhapsody in Blue (and other Gershwin work.) 1812 Overture (and other Tchaikovsky work.) Beethoven's Fifth Symphony A little Chopin Mama Cass' Big Ones (Big hits, that is.) The Cathedrals (and other Southern Gospel Quartets.) A variety of Zydeco music from my Louisiana days. Willie & Waylon and other similar music; I am a Texan. A small amount of 50's or 60's music. Nothing from the 70's to the present. When I operate my amateur radio transceiver there is no music. It is illegal to transmit music on the ham radio frequencies, even in the background.

TV is going to play to the biggest demographic. Personally, I'm glad the music is getting more "current".
