Default If you like Etta James....

Minor surgery means no physical activity for a week or so... spending some inside time with internet music.

This is "At Last" by Beyoncé from the movie "Cadillac Records".

Covering a legend is difficult, but I think she more than does it justice.

Hope you enjoy it like I do!

It's a great job, but still, not Etta. Sadly, it was reported Etta James was very angry when Beyonce did this song on an awards show (not sure, but perhaps Grammies) She was near the end of her life.

If you've watched America's Got Talent, the very best person they ever had was the ventriloquist Terry Fator, who won 3 or 4 years ago. He did this song, and brought the house down, and it did sound exactly like Etta. I used to enjoy watching his performance on You Tube. But when Etta raised a stink about Beyonce, I noticed he had his performance removed. Too bad.

If I remember correctly Etta got very upset that Beyonce sang At Last at President Obama's first inauguration party. She felt she should have been the one to sing it there.

Yes Ted! Thanks exactly right. Thanks for reminding me.

Bill, you're bailing me out again, thanks. I watched it and noticed the original is back on from AGT.

I think he's got the voice even better on this one, but what I really like is that the panel is all making fun of him before he even gets all the way on stage going, "oh, no", and if you listen carefully the puppet's voice also says "oh no" as he walks out. Of course he hits the first note and they fall out of their chairs.

For those of you who never watched, he won the show and the millon dollars and got a one week show in Las Vegas. He was so good they signed him to do 30 or so dates the next year for $5 million.

The next year they gave him his own theatre and I think $250 million. I believe he's still there. Hard to believe a chunky middle aged ventrioquist could do that, but the man is truly talented.

Sorry for getting so far away from Etta. She was amazing.
