Default R.I.P. Jimmy Buffett.

Jimmy Buffett, legendary '''Margaritaville''' singer, dies at 76

Really enjoyed many of his songs and I know he was beloved by Villagers.

Not a huge fan but he had a few great songs. I was surprised to see that he was one of the world's richest musicians with a net worth of over $1 billion!

I also was not really a huge fan of Jimmy Buffett. More of a Eric Clapton fan.

He was making a lot from license fees. He was also friends with another Buffett (Warren) and purchased Berkshire shares when they were "cheap".

Such a fitting song. His trip around the sun has sadly come to an end.

Personally feel that this is not a good comparison. Clapton was a great guitarist(who was accompanied by other great musicians) and Buffet is more of a sing along type musician/songwriter. What I really do not understand is that Jimmy is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the hall of fame has hip hop and/or rappers in it.

Loved buffet. When I heard of his death this morning, I thought of the very first time we saw and heard him. No "coral reefers" at that time. Neighbors at the time had been up to the Alabama beaches, said there was a guy from the area who sang in some of the beach bars there and was really great. They said his music was very different than what was thought of as "Caribbean" genre. They were excited and called us... said this local Alabama guy was going to be the entertainer at the local mall (Sunrise Mall for any of you who may also be from south east Florida) that weekend. The mall back then usually had live entertainment on weekends, much like that on our squares here. No band, just him, thought he was great and "might go somewhere"....LOL ! Never considered ourselves parrot-heads, but went to many of his concerts over the years. Sorry the "Chillers" are also gone from the Villages, they were as close to Buffet's original arrangements as any "tribute band" we've heard.

Great businessman and legendary poet. Since I am a fan, many of his lyrics live in my head... LOL... I can't look up at a departure/arrival screen in any airport without "changes in latitudes changes in attitudes" playing in my head...LOL ! Yes, as another poster said, it's a day for a cheeseburger, especially for those of us in the paradise we call Florida.
