Could someone explain the connection between "Sweet Caroline" and Boston other than the fact Neil Diamond sang it one opening day???

I was absolutely thrilled when I heard / saw that the Yankees had paid Boston this honor and showed unity.

Last night, 17,565 fans sang our anthem at the Boston hockey game. Makes my day!
