Ain't the free market system great!?! A willing payer and a willing recipient come to an agreement. Shocking!

How do you think the government “provides for the common defense, promotes the general welfare and insures the blessings of Liberty” for generations of Americans?

That’s TV life! If the show was good I wouldn’t care if they made a nickle. But I’ve seen movies that their acting looks like they paid the producer!

However, back in the 1980s, Wheel would get 40 million viewers a night. So Sajak and White have lost about 80% of the audience over the years.
That has no relevance....shrinking of cable, increase in streaming, generational change are all different from the 80's.....heck even we are different from the 80's. This whole conversation is silly IMO

Fifty times as much as a school teacher. Yeah, I think that's too much.

I was stunned to see that Vanna makes $3 million a year and Sajak makes $15 million!

If they hired some unknown actors for $500,000 a year, would you not watch?

They are not as overpaid as Ryan Seacrest is going to be. So much greed!

If a company offered you $15 Million a year, would you turn it down?

Honestly yes. I have no need for that much money, which is why I don’t buy lottery tickets.

With that line of thought, what about professional sports. Or the A list actors. They all get paid what the market will bare.

See post 14 where I said

“There are certain jobs such as professional athletes where they can’t be readily replaced by other people. Actors are more fungible than other professions.”

For every person that can hit a 95 mph fastball, I think there are at least 100,000 people that can turn letters - at least with a little training.

However, I just read that Whoopi Goldberg makes $8 million and Joy Behar makes $7 million on the View - so perhaps Vanna is underpaid!

Look up Judge Judy's salary, she's the only TV judge I can watch and I watch her reruns everyday!

Default $$$$$$$$$$

The posts all seem to be shocked on how much these two game show hosts are earning or demanding. If that shocks you, you'll really be shocked if you ever find out how much revenue these shows bring in. For example, I never watched FRIENDS, but at one point it was reported each staring cast member was earning 1 million per episode, that is per episode, not yearly. I believe the cast consisted of 8 main characters, just do the math. I worked on game shows years ago and though they did not bring in as much revenue as prime time they were one of the least expensive to produce. Why do you think your starting to see so many game shows showing up on prime time these days, it all has to do with profits. I don't know how they schedule the taping these days, but when I worked on them, they would grind out 5 shows a day once a week. Within a few months they had enough for the year. When you hear the phrase the Entertainment Business, the word you have to focus on is business.

It’s no different than a baseball player or football player making 50 to 100 million in 3 to 5 yrs.
