I'm more a reader vs a viewer. Randy Wayne White...Doc Ford series. James Lee Burke...Dave Robicheaux series.

Best ever - Top of the Lake and its sequel Top of the Lake China Girl.

Second place, the Jean Baptiste mysteries, called The Missing (part 1 and part 2).

Vienna Blood was pretty good, I thought, but nowhere as good as the first two mentioned above.

All might be well-worth googling to find a way to watch them. I watched on BBC, which I use a VPN to get, but the series do gradually make it to other services and I've at least one of them advertised on a non-BBC service.

These series can be a little hard to find, however, since they are different from (I think far better than) the average prime time show and have not made it to PBS.

I am glad you remembered them. They should have made 10 more for my liking.

I agree. Nothing like Raymond Burr in Perry Mason. And of course, Barbara Hale as Della. Class act and always interesting story lines. I have DVD of series as well.

I've also seen the Lewis series but haven't been able to get into the original Inspector Morse show. It's sort of dated now, but since I started with Endeavour I just kind of resist John Thaw in the role.

Another favorite for repeat viewing is Foyle's War, set during WWII and its aftermath.

Bosch on Amazon Prime is a tightly plotted L.A. noir, if darker fare is your thing.

Edit: Endeavour is a British show that airs here on PBS under their Masterpiece Mystery banner.
I subscribe to Acorn TV because I love British tv. Look it up on google lots of
Great shows

Default Best mystery series

Diagnosis Murder. Taping them everyday on The Hallmark Channel. Very good. Also rewatching Rizzoli and Isles.
