When there is no football games that I want to watch, we usually have on the ID Channel on Directv channel 285. It's true crime stories all day, reenactment shows, Joe Kenda, 48 Hours, Dateline, 20/20, and many made for the ID Channel. Because of the threads on this show I watched Live PD last weekend and some this week. It's sort of like Cops show 30 years ago, except that was recorded and was all in one city, Ft. Lauderdale initially. With many different cities and live with a studio host, I find this is a little more interesting. I still don't care for the domestic disturbance scenes, but most of the other scenes are interesting and it breaks up watching reenactments all day.

When my blonde nurse friend was dating a fed they watched a lot of these true crime shows to pass the time. Sounds kind of boring to me.

Of course you realize that we are not the demographic they are looking for and the target demographic is all the matters. We don't buy what they advertise so we are dead to them. Of course our parents thought what we watched was inane and a waste of time. As with everything, it's all about the money.

Never even heard of this show. Looked at the Wikipedia link provided and immediately saw it was listed as a reality show. I find that reality TV programs seem to be very far from my idea of reality so I avoid them.

I enjoy reading in the evening and like to have an interesting TV show going in the background as I read. Sports are good for this, especially baseball which can be boring with intermittent exciting plays. The best "reality" TV show for this is Live PD. It has lots of mundane police encounters with an occasional chase scene or take-down. I really like the hosts, including Dan Abrams, despite his left leaning reporting for ABC News. Host Sticks Larkin is a hoot.

Live PD is on several nights a week on A&E and follows law enforcement officers as they answer actual calls in 12 different counties in the U.S. More than half of police forces in this country wear body cameras and have cameras in their police cars. It was and is an eye opener for me how values and attitudes have changed in this country.

I’ve never watched it and have no idea, but is it really the most watched series on television? I have no basis for doubting, it would just be surprising to me.
And as far as “reality tv” goes, from what I’ve read and heard about the show, I would never include Live PD in any category that includes trash like The Kardashians and that ilk. Last edited by Polar Bear; 11-22-2019 at 04:40 PM. |
