This is getting more than aggravating. Does anyone else have this pop up when you first log on and click on New Posts? It happens when I haven't done any searches...just after logging on.

I've had it happen...........and I think it's because of a problem with my mouse. I single-click on something and it ends up being a double-click. So I've experienced the same thing you have......and have also had similar issues on other sites. Have tried modifying the 'speed' to no avail. I think my poor little mouse is worn out! Or the left mouse button is sticking.....

Respectfully speaking, I don't think it has anything to do with the mouse. I think it's a glitch on the site.

I don't seem to be experiencing that when I log on. Just tried it, twice, no problem. Have logged on and off throughout the day today and didn't encounter what you have. A mystery for sure.

The 'single click' seems to be a requirement of this site. Many sites are structured to ignore repeated clicks and allow immediate log in anyway. TOTV makes you wait if you click more than once.

This might not be your issue, but take a close look at your link to TOTV. If, at the end of the link, it has something like =getnew then you are entering the site on the New Posts. If you click New Posts, after entering this way, you will get the message you describe.

One way to check, is to type talkofthevillages.com into the address bar and see if you have the same problem. Make sure you do not select any previously used addresses, when doing this test.

Hope this helps...

Happens to me a lot using the touchpad. Sometimes my finger shakes and I double click instead of single click.

Yes, I've had it happen a lot.

What also is annoying is AFTER typing a very very long REPLY to the many private messages, it says that I have too many words.
Then when I selectively delete the original message ABOVE MY NEW MESSAGE, it says to use the back thingie...........and then when I return, my entire CAREFULLY thought out typed reply to the p.m. person is GONE............others have told me that they had the same thing happen.
They type a response........and then it's gone and never sent at all.
Gremlins in my computer?????????

None here either. I only get that comment when I do searches, so I've learned not to be so fast. I understand your frustration, there are many quirks in my computer or on websites that I use that drive me nuts and I can't get explanations as to why....

I get it when I double click on "new posts". If i click on the back arrow, the new posts will appear.

It is very annoying but seems to be a requirement for the software.

Being use to a fast computer, I sometimes go too fast.

I hope this helps.
