Default Italy Escorted Tours

Thinking of doing a 12-15 day escorted tour of Italy in fall. Which tour companies would you recommend? stay away from?

thanks

Legendary Journeys is one to avoid at all costs!

They choose tourist class hotels and call them 4 star. They take money upfront for optional tours and when they fall through, will not reimburse for the cost.

We have had good experience in Greece and Turkey with Gate 1 Travel.

My sister does walking tours around Florence.if your not interested in a walking tour I'm sure she can set you up with something. She is fully licensed and has been doing them for years. She grew up here in Florida and moved over there during her college years. If you want to pm me your phone number or email I can get her info and get you in touch with her.

We did Italy on a cruise. Got to see a lot more that way without a lot of long bus rides. Stop in a different city each day, tour around, sleep on the ship and in the morning you are in the next city.

I have toured Italy about 7 times over the last 10 years. From what i have whitnesed, I would never go with a tour company. I have done all my research on line, bookings, etc on my own, never never take a taxi, you will get ripped off. I take busses, and trains, all works well for me. I go from 3 to 4 weeks.

I agree...Tauck Tours are fabulous. Maybe a little more expensive but they do use 5 star hotels and high quality transportation. Tour directors are great!!

Glad to hear the good recommendation for Tauck Tours. My husband and I are going on their Classic Italy 2 weeks tour in October.

Default Switzerland/Italy tour....

I am considering a tour (possibly Tauck) to Switzerland and Italy to see the lakes and mountains rather than all major cities. I am married, however, will be going solo. Any suggestions or any other female solo travelers interested in meeting to possibly consider going on same tour? Bunny

Two good companies: Gate 1 for good quality at a fair price; or try Perillo for quality, a little more bells and whistles and will cost more.
