Default more advice for Maine

Have flight booked to Bangor. Have B & B booked for 4 nights at Bar Harbor. Now my question is we have 5 nights prior to heading to bar harbor and would like to find a nice resort on the water in a town where we can do day trips from? I see Ellsworth on the map? Should we stay here? We don't mind driving to see as much as possible but don't want to risk not being able to get a hotel. Where should we plant ourselves where we can easily branch out from for day trips? We would consider two different areas (2 nights in different hotels) if we have to?

I recommend the Samoset Resort in Rockport. We have stayed there for years and never been disappointed. The view of the Bay is fabulous.

Rockport has the Maine Lobster Festival every year. Check your dates. That is a great experience. Boothbay Harbor is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Worth a trip there as well. Stayed at the Tugboat Inn.

Portland is a culinary destination that should not be missed while visiting Maine. Fore Street restaurant is in the top 20 in the country year after year. Shipyard Brewing and Allagash are great tours as well.

Ogunquit has a great restaurant scene. Arrows Restaurant has won James Beard Awards. Part of the Mark & Clark Restaurant Group.

Most of my trips are culinary based! I did find that smaller is better when visiting Maine. From hotels to restaurants.

Enjoy your travels! One of the greatest places on earth!

Only have 5 nights prior to being in Bar harbor. How far is Boothbay from the Bangor airport? Maybe we can drive there first , stay 2 nights and then drive to camden,/rockport for 2 nights then on to bar harbor? Maine does look beautiful and of course we won't miss the lobster!
