Default Cruise from Fort Lauderdale. Drive down or stay overnight?

I'm here in the Villages and I am planning to leave out of Fort Lauderdale on Celebrity. Does anyone park at the cruise port and is that the most efficient way to get onto your cruise? Or do you do a park and stay. The hotels have really upped their prices since 2010. Any advice would be so welcome. Thank you !

EZ drive and convenient parking is offered by various lots within n sight of the ships. They run shuttles every few minutes.

Its about a 4 hour easy drive to the Port at Fort Lauderdale. Here is a place we park,,,very close to the port and they have alot of shuttle buses to take you to and from the port. Cost if you book on-line is $10.50 per day plus tax. You want the Fort Lauderdale Cruise Parking

We always use Yankee Trails - $90 per person, return. Probably more expensive than driving and parking (depending on length of cruise) but a lot more relaxing. Pick up/drop off is Bealls on 441 and Rural King

I don't like riding in a Bus, so we always drive down (car pool) the night before. We stay at the Hampton Inn In Sawgrass. It's a very nice Hotel and not far from the Princess Ship we always cruise on. Cost is around $200 with Taxes. We found a great Italian Restaurant to have dinner and the next morning we have breakfast at the Hotel and by the time we get pulled together it's 11:00. We go over to the Ship and Board in time for Lunch. We share the Parking fee so it't not bad at all. Parking is right across the street from where the ship is docked.

I always drive down the day before. I like staying at the Ramada. Yes they let you park there and they have a shuttle. Port Everglades is doing construction and parking is a little porked up right now. Went in January even the luggage area was a mess. Cruise was GREAT though !!

Just did 2 Celebrity cruises out of Ft Lauderdale this January. First one we drove down. Left here about 6:30am and arrive around 11. We were on the ship before noon, before the terminal got too crowded.

The cruise we just returned from we did the bus. I’m not a fan of the bus. Granted it’s nice not to worry about luggage once it’s loaded on the bus, but the ride was very uncomfortable. Plus you arrive with all the other busses, which causes heavy crowding in the terminal.

Before we moved to Florida, we would always fly in a day early, but now driving seems to be the easiest to me.

Cruising is always fun no mater how you get there.
