Default Cruise to Greek isles

Number one on my bucket list has been a cruise to the Greek isles . We keep putting it off with all the upheaval in Greece. Lately it seems to be quiet . Has anyone travelled to Greece recently? Please give me pros and cons. There are so many wonderful places to go if Greece is not ready for me that's OK

We went on a Greek Islands cruise a couple of years ago, and it is truly fantastic. The islands are magnificent and just as you see them in photos, but I have to say we really disliked Athens, it is a beautiful city, but the cab drivers are not to be trusted, they drove us around the same monuments several times to run up the tab, and Athens is filthy, absolutely filthy and covered in graffiti, even the monuments are covered in graffiti, trash everywhere even in the parks, and loads of homeless dogs on the streets, but the hotels were incredible and the food was out of this world. We got the impression the Greeks did not like Americans. Now on the same cruise we were in Istanbul in Turkey and I was very nervous about that and it was a wonderful experience, love it, want to go back. It was our first experience of being in a mostly Muslim country and we felt no fear whatsoever.

PM me if you want more details.

Take the cruise, there are some magnificent monuments and incredible small intimate villages where you are made very welcome, just lovely.

We just came back from a cruise that included Greece (Athens, Rhodes, Santorini, Mykonos). Nothing to fear there at all. I agree about Athens. The Acropolis was very nice to see, but the rest of what we saw was so so at best. The islands, especially Santorini, were great and should be on everyone's bucket list.
