Default Montreal - recommendations

Instead of going to Boston like I was thinking about earlier this year, now I am going to Montreal for 4 days in early August with a church group. The group is flying, and myself and most of us are staying at the Novotel Hotel in downtown Montreal on Rue de la Montagne. The hotel looks like it is a couple of blocks from the Bell Center. If anyone has stayed at this hotel, feedback is appreciated. We will not have rental cars.

Any suggestions and recommendations on restaurants, churches, museums, walking tours, etc. are welcome. We are interested in seeing Old Montreal. Also if anyone has been to the casino in Montreal how is that? I will be getting a guidebook on Montreal, but I also like to read recommendations from travelers.

I am assuming that since Montreal is a large city, ATM's are widely available -- is that correct? I will be bringing about 300 Canadian dollars with me and also credit cards, but just wanted to know about the ATM's as it has been 25 years since I have been to Canada and my first time going to Montreal.

Thanks in advance for any information.

St. Joseph's Oratory. Also, underground Montreal. It's so cold there in the winter that there's an entire city underground...shopping, restaurants, etc. A very walkable and just beautiful city.

No worries, we have lots and lots and lots of ATMs in Canada! Montreal is a great city, very romantic. C'est si bon!

You will love Montreal. Do not bother with the casino, there is no payback on the slots. One of the tours we took was the ghost tour in old Montreal. Really enjoyed the tour. If you have time, take a bus tour to Quebec city. It is beautiful!
