Default Looking for St. Augustine Suggestions

Hi everyone. We will be celebrating our 40th anniversary this coming June and we are considering St. Augustine as a destination. We would appreciate any suggestions as to where to stay. One place we are considering is the Old Powderhouse Inn. Any info on this venue or any others would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've stayed at the Hilton. It's right in the historic downtown area of St. Augustine and you can walk to everything. It's an excellent hotel.

The Bed & Breakfast Inn's are all good - don't miss the Lichtner (sp?) Museum. Enjoy

Not to burst the bubble - but, old St. A is a sham...I studied with the guy who worked on it - the fort is real - the old town foundations are real - the recreated buildings are not accurate...cool - but, not anything like the original city....more New Orleans than Spanish. Still, I like the town - just don't buy the fiction.

Just came back. I LOVE St. Augustine. See the fort, the lighthouse, and best of all...DEFINITELY see the FLAGLER HOTEL which is now the FLAGLER COLLEGE. Beautiful tiffany stained glass and gorgeous architecture. They offer a tour several times a day that is just wonderful with lots of interesting info.

Barnicle Bills is a great restaurant and so is Salt Water Cowboys.

Check a map and don't stay at any of the hotels that back up to the railroad tracks. We learned that the hard way.

If you like shrimp, the best place is Osteen's... it is across the bridge, toward the ocean. be prepared to wait but it is worth it.. they are closed on Mondays.

Mom and I have a condo on St. Augustine Beach. Oasis is one of our favorite restaurants.
