Will be in Sydney late September. Can you tell me of a centrally located hotel that won't cost a king's ransom?

There are a few things in life worth paying extra for. One of three most spectacular views in the world is from the lounge on top of the Intercontinental Hotel at Sydney Harbor. You are looking directly down on the Sydney Opera house and directly at the Harbor bridge. You can watch the ferries and water taxi's, the fireworks, all from their completely glass enclosed lounge. It is only accessible to hotel guests. Not a cheap hotel, but that view is worth every penny. I have been to Sydney probably 30 or 40 times and I would not stay anywhere else.

I was going to suggest the Marriott which is only a few minute walk to Sydney Harbor - but after remembering the Intercontinental and the wonderful views that 12ride mentioned - I would second that suggestion!

Sydney is a great place to visit.

You can buy a 24 hour transit pass at the machines for $2.50 as a "pensioner". They will not let you do that at the ticket windows. The passes are for bus, ferries, and commuter trains.
