Default smaller carry-ons

I have it on good authority that the airlines are going to decrease the allowed size of carry-on bags.
What that means to me is that lots of people are going to board the plane only to be told that their bag is too large and will have to be checked. Another fee to the airline!
Also that it's good news for luggage makers, they will have to re-size their carry-on bags and people will buy them

So the reduction by the majority would be .05x.05.1.5 Who on earth is going to monitor than minor difference if my bag currently falls within the current standards. This is getting ridiculous.

Default more profits

The airlines can increase the profits on a situation they have control of since very few people travel without clothes and other necessities.

The only thing that flies with me is reading material, headsets and medications. Everything else goes either FedEx or UPS

I have NOT seen an airline yet check the actual size of a carry on except for the ones that were obviously oversized. I have seen so many that were too big, that they would not fit in the overhead bins period, but these were not checked and allowed to be taken on board, and now had to be removed and checked....
OK, I know I will get flamed for this, but if people would just follow the rules......

Mailing your luggage isn't a bad idea. The whole overhead storage is a big pain. It's the main detriment to be boarding or deboarding mainly due to some geniuses who place their stuff 7 rows no where near they are sitting or don't follow the instructions of the flight crew. If the airlines did something about overhead bins and prevented reclining seats flights would be so much better. I do get highly entertained by boneheads when they try to pass thru security as long as they are behind me.

Here's one expert's take on the proposed, carry-on changes.
