I've got to say that our two weeks on the Queen Mary II has spoiled me. I love the formal atmosphere and the pastries were fantastic. The service was second to none and the ship itself was something to behold.

 Judy!

OMG! Jan, that ship looks fabulous. Never had the pleasure of cruising on her. Also, I've always wanted to try Crystal. Among the usual suspects, our favorite ship so far is the Brillance of the Sea, Royal Caribbean. Maybe because we've been on that one so much. But I'm sure my answer will change as we take more cruises and try different ships.

Where did you cruise to and from? If I remember correctly, The QM2 had a rough start but im sure its ship shape now. Cunard does it up right. I know one year we were taking a cruise out of NYC to Bermuda and as we were approaching the ship heard strolling vilons playing music...we were impressed except to find out they were for the QEII sharing the same pier docked opposite us.

My wife and I had the great experience to travel on the Queen Mary ll, two years ago on a crossing (not a cruise) from Southampton to New York. We had the privilege to sit at the Chief Engineers table for the entire crossing due to the fact that the couple with us was an acquaintance of the Chief Engineer. This ship is like The Villages - You have to see it and experience it, to believe it. It is the worlds largest and most luxurious ship built. When we docked in NY we docked next to the aircraft carrier docked there and used as a museum. I was on the top deck of the QM 2 and I looked down to the flight deck of the carrier. The stern of the QM 2 stuck out in the river well past the carrier. I enjoyed the British atmosphere including the high tea each day, the Captains reception, the entertainment in the theatre larger than a Broadway theater. The formal dinners with formal dress in the unbelievable grand dinning room with the three story high ceiling and the grand staircase. It was so impressive that I could hardly believe we were actually there. It was like a dream. What an experience. It was like it was in the first half of the Twentieth Century when the Cunard Line ruled the Atlantic passenger trade between Europe and America. We can hardly wait to make another crossing on the QM 2.

My wife and I by far it is Celebrity Lines..all ships. In our opinion Celebrity is a step above most other lines that are "affordable" and provide some of the old world touches. AT the buffets they have staff to take the ladies trays, they have wine stewarts to assist in wine selection, great food, and formal nights along with other things that we just appreciate.

I travelled on the old Queen Mary and it was wonderful. But it was long long ago and things are changed so much since then. I'm hoping one of these days to cross the Atlantic on the new QM. But so far, my favorite ship was the Holland America Volendam. We went to Alaska and it was fantastic.
