Thinking of getting one now......previous thread months back rave reviews.

What is a favorite recipe, do you still use it often, and what size do you recommend. Thanks.

I like the one in our tiny summer house (bought it because it killed two birds with one stone) so much I bought one for the house in TV. I use it for anything you can make in a pressure cooker or slow cooker, although I think it runs a tad hot on the slow cooker function, so I cut the time down. I bought the Instant Pot Ultra for down here because while I was waffling between the Duo or the Ultra 6 qt, the Ultra came on sale on Crate & Barrel for $100 with free shipping. It has low & high settings for both slow cooking and pressure cooking.

One of my favorite slow cooker recipes is chicken thighs/chorizo sausage chunks/pimento-stuffed olives in a wine/chicken broth, served over rice. It's a British recipe, so of course English peas on the side. Invalid Request (says Invalid Request, but the link works.)

Skinnytaste.com has a lot of Instant Pot recipes. I like her one pot spaghetti sauce with spaghetti squash, which can be made either in slow cooker or pressure cooker. Spaghetti Squash and Meat Sauce (Instant Pot) | Skinnytaste

I make a lot of vegetarian recipes for myself; a lot of vegetable curries. The rice function works well.

It's just the two of us, so the 6-quart size is perfect.

My wife loves ours but it doesn't seem to do a terrific job as a slow cooker. Even when adjusted to high, slow cooking seems very slow, maybe because all the heat is coming in from the bottom instead of the bottom and sides like a regular slow cooker.

Is there a trick to this? Would it be helpful to bring the temperature up quickly by using Saute for a few minutes and then switching to slow cooking?

I have the 6 qt. ultra instant pot and am very happy. I've had it about a year. Favorites are pot roast and beef stew, perfect rice, and eggs (peel perfectly). Great for cooking vegetables, particularly potatoes and sweet potatoes. I believe the flavors of food intensify in the instant pot. It's nice to set and forget - no pot watching.

Numerous comments below the video on this link reporting that the slow cooker function seems much less hot than a true slow cooker. Our experience as well.

Have two and use both after 18 months. Turkey breast, rice, hard boiled eggs, scalloped potatoes, corned beef, pork ribs, cheesecake, chicken soup are just a few uses.

Which model and size do you have?

We have a 6qt. that we use at least twice a week; Mrs. KC just bought us a new 3qt. last week to use at the same time as the larger one.

I've had the 6 quart about a year. I cannot say I love it because I don't like steamed food but I use it for things that need to be fixed quickly like potatoes for potato salad.
Never for meat.

The capacity is nice for soups. Most of the time 6 would work, but we went 8.


We like leftovers.
