Default $$$$ Keep those Snowbirds Coming $$$$

Why is it that "the Villages" close down Rec Centers, Pickle Ball and other activities during the height of late last year pandemic crisis.
But now that the situation is worst in Florida Rec Centers and Pickle Ball Courts still remain open.
Just wondering the motive and I come to this conclusion, IMHO
$ Its Greed $, "the Villages" management wants Snowbirds to return to the Villages.

I believe they were following the local county recommendations. At this point I haven't heard of any county restrictions for this wave of infections.

I noticed you didn’t mention golf?

Maybe they (who ever they are ) learned that outdoor activity if precautions are take don’t spread the virus? Maybe it’s the high percentage of vaccinated villagers?

Bottom line it’s you’re responsible to protect yourself. If you think rec centers or any activity in villages puts you at risk, don’t go.

I suspect you are correct that the reason is $$, but not necessarily to entice snowbirds to return, it’s to keep the house selling machine running full steam ahead.

Hey! No sweat! If you get sick you can just go to the movie theater in Brownwood and get 4 free shots (1 in each arm, azz and thigh I hear) with your popcorn and it's all better so it doesn't matter. You can also head to Rural King in Leesburg and they may have some horse meds left in stock.

Biggest spike is July/August '21. Too early for snowbirds even if frogs do love to blame everything on snowbirds. Could it be illegals around the state?

Yes, sunshine helps kills the virus. I would still wash my hands after any activity that involves shared surfaces.

Well said.

Once people are vaccinated, they can get sick, but aren't likely to die especially older people like us. No one FORCES you to go anywhere or do anything. The Villages isn't your conscience or your mother nor is any government.

I think most people have decided that with personal responsibility and vaccinations that the risk is not at the same level as it was last year. If you watched any of the college football on Saturday you will see thousands attending....roughly 57k at Virginia Techs game! I know its popular to blame the developers and point to greed, but I think its just that we as a country have moved on (well...maybe except for California).

IMHO I think outdoor activities should continue to be allowed with social distancing in mind, and indoor activities only for vaccinated.

You might not remember, does happen to older folks, but golf playing was NOT shut down during that period for me to mention, while Pickle Ball and Rec Centers were,,...

I would think that since most people here have been vaccinated has something to do with it.

The vast majority are now vaccinated with two shots in TV. That is the difference.
