Default Changing the color of the door

Do we need permission from some committee to change the color of our front door and our shutters?

You bet you do! You must contact the Architectural Review Committee before that change is made. If you do not, anyone can report it to the ARC and you will be made to return it to the original color.

you sure about that? have read you can change the color of your house without their approval - why would you need it to change the color of your door?

The following was taken directly from the ARC manual available at districtgov.org.

4.8 Front Doors
Home, Patio Villa
No specifications required for front doors as to type or color. Glass/screen doors
are permitted.
Courtyard Villa
1. Front door can be modified with glass insert and glass side panels(s) can be
added (no transom style windows).
2. May have a screen door in front. White extrusions are recommended for
consistency.

Always a good idea to look at the web site and call the ARC with questions before tackling any project.

Thanks so much - I will take your advice and call the ARC before doing it.
