Angry Havana Country Club Restaurant

I am sure that many others have posted less than complimentary comments about this restaurant. Really bad. They have been advertising corned beef and cabbage as a special in the paper. I ordered it and managed to choke it down. The person across the table from me sent it back and ordered something else. Have these people never heard of the Food Channel, Joy of Cooking, or Betty Crocker at the very least??????

Personally, I would think it a little strange to order an Irish specility at the Havana Restaurant but that is my first thought.

If the corned beef and cabbage was so terrible (Really bad in your words), I cannot imagine "managing to choke it down". Why did you eat the whole thing and then feel it is necessary to come on the forum and say it was "Really Bad" but you ate it anyhow? Very strange.

We ate there with friends a week or so ago. We thought it was funny there were empty candle holders on all the tables with no candles in any of them. The waiter said they never came in for Christmas. Ok...then get rid of the candle holders. Next, our meal was ok...average...they apparently have a new chef.

I just got off the phone with my Medium who informed me that she see's Havana getting a Chef that will bring quality to Havana food; however, because with quality, the volume will go down and people will complain about the portions of the great food. OOOOMMMMMHHHHH. Give someone a zirconium and they will complain about the quality, give them a diamond and they will complain about the cost. Lord help me Jesus, what is a man to do????????????????????????

Met some friends recently at Havana (it was a convenient location) for a beer...and decided to have lunch. There couldn't have been more than a dozen people in the whole place, nonetheless I decided to order a "no muss/no fuss, they can't possibly screw it up lunch"...it was a hot dog and french fries. I asked for the french fries to be extra crispy. It only took about an hour total (I inquired after 45 minutes) to deliver my cold hot dog and cold, undercooked french fries. I reminded the waitress (and she remembered) that I had ordered extra crispy fries...and mentioned that they were in fact cold, extra under-cooked, and "mealy"...and she said "sorry".

But, thanks to the foreknowledge from reading TOTV I wasn't surprised...nor disappointed....this incident just demonstrated poor judgment on my part!

Default Just wondering?

Why is it the the only people who complain about Havana's restaurant
are people who have eaten there??

Just wondering?

3 years here and waiting to have a good visit myself or reports of a good visit. Just never seems to get better!

Other restaurants seem to do it right; that is many more positive than negative reviews, even at The Villages price point: Texas BBQ, Thai Ruby, Bamboo Bistro, Two Jays, Mallory CC, among others.

What it takes is GOOD ownership, GOOD Management, GOOD Training = Good FOOD, GOOD Service & GOOD Time.

Default New Year's brunch at Havana

A group of 16 of us (with a reservation) had brunch there on New Year's Day. (noon to 5 p.m.)
All the food was fresh, hot and tasty.
Our waitress was attentive and pleasant.

Brunch included:
Prime Rib w/au jus
Pork tenderloin roasted with rosemary
Ham on the Bone (all meat at carving stations) with raisin sauce
Chicken Marsala
Chicken Teryaki
Sauteed potatoes with peppers and onions
Eggs benedict
Omelettes
French Toast
Bacon and Sausage Patties
Green Salad Bar
Fresh fruit
Bloody Marys & Mimosas ($1-2)
Various fruit breads and pound cake

The price was $10.99 and was the best brunch I have experienced in The Villages to date. Everyone in my party was pleased... we ate for almost two hours! Even the coffee was fresh, hot and good. And they had live entertainment too.
We were told that they will be having this every Sunday. We will go again!
