For the person who posted the original posting, you do know most of the people on this site live in The Villages a somewhat retirement community. For many 2024 would be a miracle.

Put this date on your calendar! And let's hope for clear skies!

When is the next total solar eclipse in the US after 2024 and what is its path? What to know
Driving west towards Paducah Kentucky Monday, the traffic going east was backed up for 25 miles! Hotels in the path were priced 3 times the normal rate. All to see an eclipse that lasted about 12 minutes?

By then I'll be on my 5th house in the Villages, a mere cart ride over the I-4 bridge to Magic Kingdom. Of course, there still won't be an executive course south of 75, so I'll probably have to pack a sleeping bag for the cart ride to my 4 pm tee time at Hilltop!

Why? I think most of us should be dead by then. I’ll wait as the time gets nearer

We had 93% totality up north. It was nice to see a sense of community with employees taking it all in outside the various workplaces and families and neighbors lining their lawns with chairs and blankets...similar to a parade route. Optometrists got a boost from a small percentage of Mensa chapter members that chose to challenge the theory that it was a good idea to look at the sun (sans protective eyewear) and ‘entrepreneurs’ were able to unload their non conforming Avatar 3D glasses on the unsuspecting masses. So it was a good moment for most to take their minds off the daily grind. For me, the next one i’ll be taking advantage of a rare, premium tee time.

I do know that the Villages is a somewhat retirement community starting at age 55.

I have seen some reports that the average age in The Villages for a male is 62 and female is 60.

If you are 55-60, actuarial charts show that you should live at least 20 more years so many of the people living here now should be around to see the 2045 eclipse.

Although I would hate to have it on my calendar and then forget about it!

Question....politics blind, if you were in a state known for hurricanes, tornadoes and flooding.....and your business is mostly insuring mobile home parks and homes built in low lying areas...on concrete slabs, does the exodus (if true)really surprise you?
