I think we need to be more concerned with all of the homeless school children living in our Tri county area than sex offenders.
I am, perrjojo.

I know this is going to be very hard for you all to wrap your head around (no sarcasm intended), but sometimes the grandparents are the offenders. Generally an offender is someone the child trusts... parent, step-parent, cousins, grandparents and of course the mothers boyfriend. Then you throw in people who want to be around children, teachers, scout leaders and what have you. The odds that your grandchild will be picked off the street in TV are slim, the odds are that if there were to be a problem it would be within your extended family or circle of close friends.

NOW, can we please return to our usual topic....

A poodle piddles on my petunias.... What should I do?

Did the poodle show up at your petunias because of getting your address in an online chatroom.........that happened to be a sting operation?
Arrest him and throw the book at him........................

A public urination conviction can land you a sex offender label. Believe it or not

First of all, the whole sexual predators list is ridiculous, there needs to be a clear definition of people put on this list. As a previous poster stated, teenagers can get on this list by having consensual relations with a girlfriend a year or two younger (I have seen it happen)..also, if someone is caught urinating in an alley or other place outdoors, they can be convicted and put on the list. Some of the residents in this area grew up when college kids thought it was funny to 'streak'...this is also a crime punishable by having to register as an offender. I despise pedophiles and others that are actually guilty of sexual violations but I'm not going to label someone in my neighborhood until I know the actual story. If I'm made aware that someone is on the registry, you better believe I will keep a close eye on my grandchildren and be careful when around the individual, but I will save my judgment until I know more information. Besides that, think of statistics..the percentage of offenders actually getting caught and convicted is very small....how many of your neighbors have just managed to get away with it? Scary thought, isn't it?

Amen! My husband was on a sexual offender jury where the Grandfather had been abusing his nieces and Grandchildren for years.
