Default Trifecta - noise from wind chimes

Since we have had discussions regarding dog poop and cigarette butts, I thought I would add wind chimes to the forum. How do people feel about neighbors with wind chimes? Are they as bad as dog poop and cigarette butts? Noise pollution instead of lawn pollution.

Guess it depends on the neighbor and the chimes. Some chimes emit a nice, soft sound even in heavy winds. Some are loud and obnoxious. Sadly, not much you can do either way other than suffer in silence.

I love them - have them - and have asked all my neighbors to please let me know if they bother them and I will immediately remove or move them. Actually I did recently move them on my own accord and one neighbor asked "what happened to your chimes" I really enjoyed them.

So once again it is a situation of common courtesy and concern for others, but just like dog poop, cigarette butts, and on and on there are some that think about others and some that don't - that's what makes the world go round.

What's next, white noise between homes?

How about the noise from a flag getting whipped by the wind. It flies 24/7 and it is right next to my property line and when it is windy we can hear it in the house! Wonderful neighbors so I am not saying anything, but you wish it didn't make so much noise!

I love the sound of wind chimes. Therefore, I have a couple...I can't imagine the sound could be offensive to anyone.....unlike dogs barking! I do hope my neighbors enjoy the chimes as much as I do.....I would be hard pressed to take them down.

Our neighbors have great chimes but they did ask if it annoyed us. We in turn asked if the waterfall from our pool bothered them. Answer was No by both of us.

I love soft wind chimes and the sound of water features. It's very soothing. the flag wouldn't bother me either. I'd rather hear those three things than barking dogs, tvs on lanais, or loud conversation. Fortunately, we have little of the latter three.

I find chimes offensive and intrusive. The tinkling sound drives me crazy.
Since our homes are so close together it's important to minimize sounds. One woman's love of tinkling sounds is another woman's annoyance.

Gracie, the sound of rushing water happens in nature (organic) and is pleasant.

My husband doesn't like wind chimes and I do. I have a couple that I like because of the look of them so I hang them where the wind won't catch them and make them chime. My husband has often thought of making a line of foam wind chimes for those that can't stand the noise lol! I don't think you'll ever please everyone in this world.

I am sorry but they make me have to pee. I do love the sound, just not the end results!

wind chimes are not allowed in the villages. you can complain to deed compliance and they must be removed. did you also know that you cannot have bird baths in TV?

I can sympathize. When we lived on a sailboat and were docked in various marinas, the slapping halyards of neighboring boats drove us crazy.
