Default 90 year old Dad coming

Any recommendations of what to do and show around The Villages to my 90 year old father? He's coming from The Villages in San Jose, CA, which is nothing compared to our wonderful place here. But as great a mind as he has, he's slowed up a bit so lots of walking is tough. Any thoughts?

My Father-in-law (89) enjoys going to the American Legion (off Rolling acres Road/466) on Wednesday afternoon for their lunch special ...12-2. I was amazed meeting and seeing others from TV bring their dads or In law to this place. If he was a vet and has a card, he will enjoy it.

I can't imagine anyone not liking the Donna Moore and Dunning Shaw show at Katie Belles.

Does he enjoy swimming or just getting in the water? I know we enjoy swimming at night after dark when it is cooler. There are many people his age or close to it at the Hillside Pool and Southside Pool at night. The pools are opened until 11 p.m.

Just drive him around in the golf cart to watch the gentlemen who sit every morning and race their remote controlled boats at the lake near Spanish Springs. The boats are awesome. So relaxing.

Does he fish? Lots of fishing. You could almost fish from your golf cart. I hope you enjoy your time with him regardless of what you decide to do.

Many of the music groups like to have people come and listen while they are jamming. Check out the recreation news for days, times and places. There is bluegrass, folk, country etc. Enjoy your dad's visit and I hope he enjoys whatever you do together.

Default same issue

I have same issue with my Mom (89) who lives in a nearby retirement home. I take her to the squares when I know they will not be crowded and park as close as possible to a restaurant. I try to get a seat near a window so she can see people walking by.

I have her use a walker if I know we are going to walk more than normal for her and take advantage of any benches available. The golf cart rides are entertaining as are meals out.

And finally, she just enjoys spending time with us, watching an old movie and a homecooked meal.

He might enjoy the Jazz Band and Swing Band practice sessions at Laurel Manor. Check the Rec News under Bands of the Villages
