Where do you set your thermostat for your AC on warm days ??

The wife find we both like 77 degrees night and day with our ceiling fans
running during the day in the living area, and in the bedroom at night.

not me wife's away for a few days and I set the thermostat at a comfortable 80* and ceiling fan on low ... I'm in Fla. to be warm..lol

We always set 77 during the day and 74 at night. Fans on in living room. Don’t like fan in bedroom.

I'm a bit confused. We haven't moved to TV yet and we don't have central air in Mass., But if we put our heating system up to 77 degrees we would suffocate from the heat and the paint would blister on our walls. We set out thermostat to 68 and that is sometime too warm

You know what, my comfort level and yours are different so my settings are irrelevant.
Not to mention the differences in the calibration of the thermostats.

AC is a must in Jungle weather down here in the summer months just like heat is welcomed in winter in Mass.

I can't remember the last time I needed a winter jacket, gloves, or hat to leave the house.

77 degrees day and night all year round. I don't like to run the ceiling fans, except occasionally.

What kind of heat do you have up north? I bet it's not an electric heat pump. The kind of heat that the heat pump produces here in the winter doesn't feel like heat to me - it just feels like air blowing, not providing a lot of warmth. Granted, if our houses were heated by gas or coal furnaces, as was the house I lived in as a child, I would understand what you were saying. On the other hand, we find 77 deg. perfectly comfortable in the summer. In the winter I attempt to keep the heat under 77 because of the expense but find it uncomfortable.

The main difference is probably humidity.

You need to run the AC here enough to keep the humidity below 60% to prevent mold.

77-78 when home and 80-82 when away are typical recommendations. But some prefer lower AC settings.

I have a ecobee programmable thermostat. My AC setting is automatically set at 77° at 5 am every day. At 8:30 pm it automatically sets to 72°. I sleep much better in a cool environment. So my AC is doing most of its work at night when the air is cooler.

My wife and I came to agreement. She owns the day and I own the night so that I can sleep. 68 at night and 80 in the day with the patio doors and the garage door open with a screen for a breeze, although sometimes a very warm breeze. We are not here in the hot summer months, so it only gets up to 79 or so. If it gets above that, I will close the doors and set the a/c down to 76.

When in the Villages it’s 77 by day and 72 to sleep. When not in the Villages it’s set at 81 all the time. Since we got here on December 28th this winter, we kept the windows and slider open all the time and never used either the heat or A/C until a couple weeks ago when it really warmed up. We literally never use the heat while in the Villages.
