I believe because the cart paths are maintained by the local CDD and we villagers pay an annual maintenance fee to the CDD, and one of the things that fee covers is the maintenance 0f the cart paths within the CDD.

Except then there are certain places the renter can't access--sports pools, for one. And in non-covid times, the classes were accessible to residents first, and then guests if the class was not filled.

If you come down and rent for the winter, it is preferable to have the ID card, not just the guest pass.

We are hovering now at 140,000 residents. That is lots and lots of golf carts with the potential for many accidents.

I imagine the reason you can't get IN, is because you don't live here and pay fees.
The issues with the carts are getting worse and worse ! The accidents deaths etc are probably higher than we know. I won’t ever get a cart and avoid them and anywhere they park.

The fact that she wants golf cart access is a whole different issue. If you want golf cart access to The Villages, buy IN The Villages.
True nothing is free here. In one form or another we pay for everything whether we use it ie not.Morse family needs as much money as possible

Those of us on limited budgets do get annoyed with these comments, and snowbirds saying they are the ones that subsidize us.... they pay $50 for up to six months use. Time for a change I think.
Agree with the first part, but you lost me with the snowbird addition... Can you explain how snowbirds pay $50 for 6 months of use? I thought the owner of the home pays every month for 12 months/yr no matter who or how long someone is there. Are you suggesting if they're renting that they're not effectively paying enough to cover the fees?

That is not true. You can't cross CR466A or CR44 at a light in a Golf Cart. Read the ENTIRE law carefully not just parts that may SEEM to support your incorrect assumption.

Statutes & Constitution
:View Statutes : Online Sunshine

There are many other applicable sections in sections 2,3 & 4 in the link posted above (read it ALL) but this one is the most applicable:

(3) Notwithstanding any other provision of this section, a golf cart may be operated for the purpose of crossing a street or highway where a single mobile home park is located on both sides of the street or highway and is divided by that street or highway, provided that the governmental entity having original jurisdiction over such street or highway shall review and approve the location of the crossing and require implementation of any traffic controls needed for safety purposes. This subsection shall apply only to residents or guests of the mobile home park.

Our club had a 2hr discussion about this with a Lieutenant from the Sumter County Sherrif's office at one of our meetings a number of months ago mainly discussing street legal carts. However your comment IS CORRECT if the golf cart is street legal as long as there is a "street legal" road on both sides of the highway. like crossing 441 at Rolling Acres or Morse or B.V. at 466 and 466A.

If you want golf cart access to The Villages, move to The Villages. You are not part of our community and do not merit the privileges we enjoy and for which we pay.

Nonsence.

It's simple. You're not a Villager. Sell your house in Spruce Creek and purchase in The Villages where you will then have access to all of our amenities. Frankly I'm tired of the people who live outside of The Villages feeling a sense of entitlement for something you have no right to enjoy.

It’s not luck that we were able to buy in TV, we worked, saved and did our research. Luck had nothing to do with it.

Cheers in Stonecrest, run by the previous owners of Demshars in Spanish Springs, is open to the public. Great food and service.

. You can’t drive a street legal cart on 441 which is what you would have to do to get into TV.
