Someone please keep us up to date on whether it is in the Sun or not tomorrow.

If the victim had shot and killed the attacker would that be justifiable homicide
Maybe good idea to pack when at the square

I thought it happened Saturday night.

It was Saturday according to the thread starter. Here is what I think...

The Sun sends out people to cover events like dance classes and polo matches and charity stuff but doesn't seem to have a "Brenda Starr, girl reporter" who covers the police runs. Now I think this is by design because people lying bloody in the street isn't good news at all and doesn't encourage people to buy a home....HOWEVER.....some of us well meaning "news reporters" on here repeat gossip and hearsay and absolutely rock solid stuff repeated to them..........so I don't know which is worse. Not getting the news or getting incorrect news.

But I would like to get to the bottom of this.

And I don't think carrying a gun to the square is going to help anything.

STAND BACK...............!

I didn't see any story in the Sunday or Monday Daily Sun on this incident.

If people have carry permits they carry at the squares and everywhere else they go.

Wonder if there is a gunslingers club in TV?

Sorry this is a little off topic but is an example of the Sun and coverage.
About a month ago a meth lab on wheels was driving around the Villages. Because of smoke coming out of a trailer it was stopped. People were arrested.
It was big news because no one had ever heard of a meth lab on wheels. It made Florida papers-A friend from Ocala and one from Occee called me about it. They thought it would be the talk of the Villages.(no pun intended) Not a word in the Sun and no one knew a thing about it.

I haven't seen anything in The Sun about this incident unless I missed it.

I agree. Could be the love triangle motive. Who carries a steel pipe in their car? Maybe a contractor? LOL

A note to the people on the forum who haven't made the move to TV yet....this is a rare occurrence! Don't let that deter you from moving here. Compared to any other U.S. town or city, our crime rate has to be just about the LOWEST in the nation! (thank God!)

We moved here from south suburban Chicago...so TV's apparent "dullness" is such a welcome change for us. Got tired of finding spent bullet casings in the gutters in front of our house up north, as well as empty crack cocaine packets and booze bottles tossed on our front lawn!

About the kids on the squares....a lot of the locals (teenagers and older) come to our community for entertainment...most likely because there is NOTHING in their towns, except trouble. I can only imagine how happy parents of these teens are to have a safe place (TV) for their kids to come to after prom, homecoming and just to hang out in.

So far, all the young people I've seen on our squares have been polite and respectful. I think the majority of them appreciate having a nice place to come to. Those few that don't behave, are usually "escorted" off the squares by the police, in pretty short order. (I've never witnessed this, but have been told it's happened).

I really don''t know why someone would have a need to carry a pipe in their car. Could it be this person is angry and is looking for the slightest provocation to defend himself against perceived threats?

I find this to be a disturbing but very rare incident that I would like to find out what really is behind this attack although it would never stop me from moving to TV.

As Joe Friday said, "just the facts, mame".

As a wannbee, please post if it is made known what really happened.

I understand your point Debz, but gotta ask, where in the Chicago south suburbs did you live, Dixmoor?

Over 65

I wonder how many know that an assualt on a person over 65 in Florida would
results in a $10,000 fine and 5-15 years in prison. Should give anyone
thinking of hitting one of our valuable residents to give it another thought.
There are special laws (748.08) in Florida if you attack someone over 65.:clap2:

Another good reason to be happy you're getting old (beside Senior's Day at Bealls).

Only law abiding people pay any attention to laws.:grumpy:

Just askin..................

I don't know anything about the statute stated. I was wondering if this would apply if the attacker was over 65 themselves?

Gerald 10-10-2011 11:12 AM

how sad that this has happened.
