I find this to be a disturbing but very rare incident that I would like to find out what really is behind this attack although it would never stop me from moving to TV.

As Joe Friday said, "just the facts, mame".

As a wannbee, please post if it is made known what really happened.

Good question, 2BNTV. I wonder the same thing about those who carry firearms.

A note to the people on the forum who haven't made the move to TV yet....this is a rare occurrence! Don't let that deter you from moving here. Compared to any other U.S. town or city, our crime rate has to be just about the LOWEST in the nation! (thank God!)

We moved here from south suburban Chicago...so TV's apparent "dullness" is such a welcome change for us. Got tired of finding spent bullet casings in the gutters in front of our house up north, as well as empty crack cocaine packets and booze bottles tossed on our front lawn!

About the kids on the squares....a lot of the locals (teenagers and older) come to our community for entertainment...most likely because there is NOTHING in their towns, except trouble. I can only imagine how happy parents of these teens are to have a safe place (TV) for their kids to come to after prom, homecoming and just to hang out in.

So far, all the young people I've seen on our squares have been polite and respectful. I think the majority of them appreciate having a nice place to come to. Those few that don't behave, are usually "escorted" off the squares by the police, in pretty short order. (I've never witnessed this, but have been told it's happened).

This incident and the "Tree Lighting Brawl" has me thinking about spending less time at night on the squares, if we buy at TV.

Are you kidding? I have been here a year and I haven't even seen an argument much less a fight.

:1rotfl: I'm serious. Walking the squares or in the clubs, I haven't seen any fights. Coincidence? Maybe, but usually where they sell alcohol you might see one once in awhile. I haven't.

I don't know anything about the statute stated. I was wondering if this would apply if the attacker was over 65 themselves?

There is not an exception based upon the age of the person committing the assault.

About a month ago a meth lab on wheels was driving around the Villages. Because of smoke coming out of a trailer it was stopped. People were arrested.
It was big news because no one had ever heard of a meth lab on wheels. It made Florida papers-A friend from Ocala and one from Occee called me about it. They thought it would be the talk of the Villages.(no pun intended) Not a word in the Sun and no one knew a thing about it.

I haven't seen anything in The Sun about this incident unless I missed it.

When I was in TV back in July there was an article in the SUN about "METH ON WHEELS" (NO PUN INTENDED) riding through TV.

I'm surprised no-one was packing a mobile phone. Anywhere else there would be a string of videos available on-line within minutes - in TV we have to hang around to the next day's newspaper.

Except in the political forum.

If you read through these posts, that joke has been already posted.

Thank you for answering this question.

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn whether I know all the gory details or not!

Observations:

Yes, the Daily Sun is sometimes lax about reporting "negative news."

Is life in "The Bubble" perfect? How could it possibly be when there are some 85,000 residents and an increasing number of outsiders, some of whom are, shall we say, jealous?

Nowhere in this long thread did I see any hint: what age group were the perpetrators of this incident?

Should Villagers be scared? No. It's such a rare event.

Should Villagers be armed? H*** NO!

Should Villagers ask for a greater Law Enforcement presence at the squares? Quite probably, especially as we continue to grow!

Is this incident reason for wannabees to steer clear of The Villages? No way!

'Nuff said!
