Since Gracie isn't here I just gotta say it...BOY HOWDY!! Here we go again! There are dog friendly restaurants everywhere in the US and other parts of the world. Get over it! If it concerns you, don't go there. Most likely you won't even notice the prescence of the pet.

ugly. that's what my grandmother called it. boy, you didn't want to hear her say, "don't be ugly."...what a saint.
anyway, for a buck and a half at convenience stores while I gas up, I get a 20 oz drink and emma gets a hot dog. we go somewhere she can relax without a leash and enjoy her boon.
frankly, I don't want the hassle of dog v. dog communication when there's food involved.
We just all live too close together, dearest friends. Let's go to the country and breathe some air.

I'm just curious...you are not a villager who is also crossing off square one? I must be missing the point.

we would be the one who's dog would bark and drive everyone nuts, and upset those inside who were not dining with their dog...i don't think i could in good faith take my dog there if he could ruin someone else dinner..

And that makes you a responsible dog owner, but there are many dogs in The Villages that could handle this situation no problem so why shouldn't they be welcomed to dine at Square 1 on the patio???

I wouldn't bring mine either 'cause I know they wouldn't behave properly, but I certainly enjoy seeing the well behaved pooches enjoying their time out.

I agree. I do not think I would take a dog to a restaurant but if your dog is really well behaved and you feel the need for canine companionship while dining....

My current dog Beau is too much of a beggar for food and a lap dog. He would be very confused if he was forced to choose between a lap and a piece of baked chicken. My former dog, Sport, would have been busier looking for somewhere to dig and not finding it in the concrete. Sport would be looking at the bordering plants and such for any kind of sign of a critter to dig up.

The fat cocker spaniel Amber we had would have loved this idea but she was blind and would be walking into the chairs.

Our Dalmatian, Ashes, would probably chase her tail, bite it, and spread blood all over the diners. She had done this in my car when I was coming back from Virginia Lake in Reno, Nevada and I had been very relieved to arrive home without having been stopped by some cop we thought I had some murdered body in the trunk and was the world's worst hit man with the blood still smeared all over the windows. I also do not think she could have stood still at a restaurant long enough for me to eat anything. Talk about hyperactive!

I have explained my handle in a couple of previous threads to people who asked the same question. We live here. We have to. We hate it. I am "Notta Villager" because I do not buy into the lifestyle.

To each his own. I really love the Villages but know that there are many detractors out there. You just need to do some searches on City-Data for instance to find them. Or, check the Orlando Sentinel blogs.

It's very simple, if dogs eat there, we won't.

Obviously, the restaurant has made a good business decision and it is what it is. So, don't go there. Plenty of people will.....with and without their dog. I for one love the idea and many, many more do to. It's all about decisions and ones own choice.
