I also don't get too much into the griping feasts. I will wait and see how things, such as Katie Belles, turns out before I complain. Then again, if I don't like it, I just won't go. We all can't "love" everything. Never have and never will.
There is no lack of things to do here.
We have seen so many changes since we moved here. I actually find it exciting.
If the Villages isn't developing the property around us, someone else will.
I would put my money on the Villages to do a top notch job.
I agree with you on most points. I have an imagination that this is how the think tank conversation used to work:
"What would be fun the owners that is free or almost free?

And then they would list all the cool things to build on the north side of town that doesn't really cost anything for the participants. You know the list. And a polo field for potential Polo-ers or fans of Polo. Who isn't!!!

But the only unique cool thing at my end of town is a softball field and air gun range at the end of Morse.

What they previously built will last me a lifetime, I'm counting my lucky stars and for now I can't get enough golf. I just think that the "What would be fun for the all-inclusive crowd attitude" has faded.

[this is where i would insert an emoticon of a left handed catholic guy from new jersey that looks just like me, wearing glasses and a green golf shirt with a quizzical look on his face and two thumbs up if they had one]

Remember, this is the whiners' thread... It's losing its humorous punch!

I hate the smell those gas golf carts make, especially in tunnels. They should be banned.

Why do I have to rake sand traps? Isn't that what those ambassadors get paid to do?

I thought one of the purposes of this board was to be able to share your questions, your thoughts on things, and your feelings about what is going on in the Villages. But if you try to post something that is not popular or have an opinion about something about the Villages that is not shared by about 20 people on here then the only responses you get seem to be sarcastic, and smart a** remarks. I have posted several things on here that I was really bothered by, and instead of people trying to give constructive comments or just some sympathy, or just someone who seems to care, those were the type comments I routinely get. Again, I am not speaking of everyone, just some. You need to realize that posts frequently reflect what is happening to someone. The poster may be overwhelmed by things going on in their life at that moment, they may have a friend or family member who is sick or dying, and this board is their ownly diversion from sadness and pain. It is only expected that their posts and responses may be affected with what is going on in their life. And then when they get the sarcastic, hurtful responses, that increases their pain. Or someone may be new and feels like the people on the board are their only friends. I am just saying that people's post may reflect their life at the time.
I have posted several times about the tree and bridge/island payments by the CDD's south of 466. This has honestly bothered me because we weren't involved with anything to do with the trees. I know nothing is going to change with that situation-probably. But I can guarantee if people don't keep the case open, and just tell everyone to just stop whining, there is a 100% percent chance it will ever be solved. I also don't think it is right that we are also going to be responsible for the bridge/island repair. I think that it should be up to the developer to pursue the contractor and business that did the original job to pay for the repair instead of just saying we will charge the CDD's. And if they are going to do that, why not all of the CDD's instead of half of them. That is not fair by any measure.
The next thing that has bothered me is the probability that the developer is going to build another 800 houses across from Pinellas. We live at the intersection of Buena Vista and Morse. I realize we moved there willing, but we were told when we specifically asked, that there were going to be more houses built across 466a, already planned for, and that would be all of the Villages. Well, we all know now that a lot of us were lied to. We were told at that time that buildout would be 2014 because there was something about water rights expiring at the end of 2014. Anyhow, they have added another 2000 houses which will certainly impact our area. Our roads and cart paths are already over crowded.
When the developer decided to build 300 houses around the VA, the people up there were devasted because they were going to be crowded and it would impact the restaurants and stores. I actually sympathize with them because of our experience with building around us for the past 4-5 years. But before the building affected them personally, I will bet they didn't give us down here a thought when we have gone through crowding and lack of restaurants, etc for the population that was here. If something doesn't directly affect you, it is no big deal, right.
Lastly, going on around the same time as the tree and island issues, we also found out about the probable addition of 800 more houses right beneath us, making our street and cart paths, already crowded, the target for another possible 1500 more cars and/or carts. This will be another main impact for us, but....if you don't live arround here, no big deal. Right?
So, if anyone is still reading this, or if the administer hasn't deleted it, I would like to thank those Villagers who have taken a little time to answer my posts with an honest, reasonable , adult response. For the others, I will take my whining off this board so you won't have to hear it so to speak. But for what it is worth, everyone who is so determined that everything here is perfect, and the developer is almost likened to "a God", is just being in denial, and equally annoying. There is no where in this world without problems, and things that need to be changed. When you try to pretend that TV is, you are actually hurting the community. People need to be proactive , and when there are problems, even if you don't see it, but hear it from others, then you are holding back improvements that could make this place even better. Don't you realize that if the original people who were here didn't identify problems, we wouldn't be here??? That's all, Good-bye. BTW, I won't be reading responses on here. If someone has a response I would want to hear, just message me.
I agree with your comments regarding posts and sharing things. Obviously some things that people "whine" about may not seem important to other people, but why attack those who are unhappy with certain things, and make horrible judgments about those folks? Maybe their complaints are valid, maybe they are not, but thats what these forums are for. If you don't like it, just ignore it. I see many posts that I disagree with and I just try to ignore the posters. And the way some people go on and on about the Developer, like he is a god. I find that equally annoying, again it is something I really just try to ignore. We all have our needs and expectations. Some people expect certain things and are vocal about it. It doesn't make them a whiner, it could just make them a little more astute and assertive then someone who buries their head in the sand. And I know the posse will jump all over me for voicing this, and make me out to be a negative, mean person, with little to live for. And guess what, do you really think I care?

The only problems with a whiners tread is that whiners don't know they are whining. It's really all a matter of perspective.
