I changed the settings and it seems to have worked! But, I must say I like having the newst posts on top! Sure beats having to scroll down the entire page to see them!
Update: It looked like it was going to work but all the information still showed when it was posted!

I'm not sure how I feel about the new descriptors. I don't know what else to call them.
Thanks [given and received] This looks like a useful short cut. Likes, Dislikes "A like button, like option, or recommend button is a feature in communication software such as social networking services, Internet forums, news websites and blogs where the user can express that they like, enjoy or support certain content. Internet services that feature like buttons usually display the number of users who liked each content, and may show a full or partial list of them. This is a quantitative alternative to other methods of expressing reaction to content, like writing a reply text." So pushing "like or unlike" means you agree or disagree with the content. I think this is confusing and juvenile as others suggested. Why not have buttons that say I "agree or disagree"? Or just drop it all together because there is an emoticon available for that. |

I might be missing something, but if I'm looking at the correct area, all the numbers (except for "posts") show as 0 anyway. Not sure I see what's going on here.

I am extremely disappointed that I have not received one single "dislike" !!!
Clearly I will have to upgrade my game. |

Seems as if it would help if the Admins would weigh in on this. Otherwise, it appears to be lots of speculation and confusion.
More speculation: Maybe this is just a test run? I do remember several asking why there was no way to "like" something someone had written, but I don't remember anyone asking for a "dislike". Dunno.

Thanx for the heads up on how to disable useless info.

Admin, could we please hear from you.
Is this an experiment? If so, it appears that no-one finds it beneficial. Do we need to disable this function, or will it disappear as suddenly as it appeared?

That is it, Rubicon. It doesn't function and we haven't yet heard any answers as to why it's there. I don't like the premise. It is like a teacher saying " Let's all point to the bad child".

Already, in the last 15 years, civil discourse has rapidly gone from "let's just agree to disagree" to painting all who express an opposing opinion to yours as "hate".
"Hate" of the person prevails and that is why civil discourse has become an ugly, lye-throwing battle. If anything is given a "Like", it should be a particular post, not the person or entire thread! Or, to quickly see a consensus of opinion on a post, just put a thumbs-up Agree button with a thumbs-down Disagree button and then show stats on agree/disagree on that post. This is done on Disqus comments on news/talk websites. Attaching "Like" or "Dislike" to a person is poisonous to a civil discussion and it will breed nothing but discord and even hatred for people having a different or unique perspective on a topic. People have their opinions based on real-life experiences of which you might never have even heard! |
