I have never undersood why people would place their life at the mercy of my driving skills when a perfectly good sidewalk was available. If you walk in the street lane and I have a momentary distraction , you may be injured or worse. Same goes for opening car doors when parked at roadside and traffic is approaching from the rear. When I am in TV I walk or run almost every day and utilize sidewalks whenever available.
The issues is not a matter of rights , rather a matter of common sense.

Those of us residing north of 466 do not have sidewalks.

He finally stepped up on the curb and yelled at the top of his lungs "Pedestrians have the right-of-way". What a jerk!!

I would like to add that this man was not handicapped in any outward physical form.

Was that you?
I truly did not mean to be so cynical with this post. I guess I was just hurt and aggravated by this man's actions. I was all ready with a smile and a wave as I do with everyone when I am a passenger in our golf cart. We gave him every opportunity by slowing down and being careful. In return, we got a dressing down that surprised the heck out of me!

The scenario I expected was a smile and a wave as a "Since I live in The Villages, Florida's Friendliest Hometown, thanks for letting me cross this busy road without getting killed" gesture instead of what was akin, to me, a verbal finger.

He really hurt my feelings!

Why can't we all just get along?

Default Yard Stick is getting closer

The Villages is a great place and people are very lucky to have the opportuntiy to live here.

We all need to take our time and live each day (yard stick rule) and just be greatfull for what we have.

Share our laughter, our friendship and our courtesy with each other.

Have the maturity to look the other way when it comes to the people who have forgot what they are at TV for.

Sorry, just had to say it...

My thoughts, EXACTLY! And you're right...I have to grow up and be a big girl and take the bad with the good. I just like the good better!

I think protocol requires a fire truck to be located at the medevac landing zone. The choice of what landing zone to be used appears to be based on several factors, including distance from accident scene, availablity of equipment, arrival time of helicopter, traffic conditions and probably others.

I guess we have to get used to seeing more of this as folks just don't understand the need to be extra cautious. Golf carts don't have airbags and seat belts and drivers and passengers riding with arms and legs hanging out of cart or, feet resting on the dash board are all accidents waiting to happen.
Your assessment was correct. A car/golf cart collision at Lynnhaven & Belvedere with cart driver ejected. Only injury was to cart driver airlifted to Orlando.
