So, we just checked into the Hampton Inn, since our air conditioner seems to have died. Told the lady at the desk that, she said that several people were here for the same reason. Is this a thing? We had a couple brownouts, and the temp began rising in the house.

Sometimes just turning the entire system off from the fuse panel for about 10 or so minutes will bring it back. Wife and I were just talking about that. Our unit is 14 years old and I said if (when) it does we go DIRECT to the Hampton! What do they charge these days?

Need to flush your drip line in the summer. If not, it will back up and shut the system off.

If there is a float switch in there it will but if not it just starts flooding the house slowly. You would be surprised how many houses in TV don’t have the float switch. I shop vac mine out three times a year. OP said his a/c failure occurred after a couple brownouts so possibly just the external breaker (by the condenser) popped assuming he checked the inside panel

We have Munn's service ours twice a year for a total of around $139.00 per year, they make sure all is well for both summer and winter and you're on the books in case you have an emergency. In between I pour a half a gallon of hot water down the condensation drain on the 1st of every month, 5 years and still good to go.

As others have said, my AC has a float switch which will shut the unit completely down if the drain for the condensed water clogs up. This switch looks like a small pill bottle on the outside of the AC where the water exits to the drain line. If you pull that switch out and see water , that might be the problem. Clearing the drain line could be a larger problem. I use a garden hose with a small section with the end cutoff and stuffed in the drain line as far as possible . I tape it to minimize leakage and turn on the water . That blows my line clean. Hopefully your stoppage is something simple like this. May not be since you say it happened coincident with brownout issue. Good luck. |

We will be hoteling for the first time since 2019 on a driving trip to southern Michigan. I never got excited by the “complimentary “ breakfast . Oh well it fills the gut and hopefully no food poisoning

Probably condenser since lots of people find out that’s the problem.

I also put vinegar in once a month. Easy to flush using your garden hose. Good suggestion.
