Not to be picky, but I think you mean 180 degrees opposite. 360 would mean that you totally agree with me.

But, seriously, I wonder why Aldi's is the only store that has the 25-cent policy. Some other stores have the plastic bag fee. I don't think these policies save the stores any money, but they do inconvenience some customers. But the main reason I shop at Publix is because of their consistent product availability and excellent restocking.

I love it too ! So nice to go to a place where their are not carts all over the lot, blocking spaces, sometimes people even leave their carts in HANDICAPPED parking spaces ! ! ! ??? What's THAT all about ? ? I just never would have guessed that people would even bother returning the carts to the correct corral just to get their $.25, but surprise, it WORKS ! You push your cart into the corral and the "slide" returns your quarter. I would have guessed most people would just forget the quarter and leave the carts all over anyway, but it works great ! Someone on here mentioned it's like treating adults as children, and yes, I have to agree. For some reason many adults are too busy, too "tone deaf", or just too weak or handicapped, to walk a few feet to return a cart to a place cars won't be backing out hitting them, or they won't be blocking walkways or available parking spots, etc. !

Totally agree ! If a person, who is asked to put a quarter into a shopping cart slot, a quarter that comes right back OUT to them when they put the cart in the proper area, and that person is willing to do such destruction as to actually make more work for people who have nothing to do with the cart system... well... just hope you don't run into such a person at night in a dark alley, that kind of rage is frightening ! And, taking it a bit further, that kind of rage over something that is COMPLETELY voluntary ! If I don't have a lot of items on some visits, I don't even bother with a cart, I just take in my large reusable shopping bag. Not backing into, or having so many carts blocking the parking spaces is so worth the $ -0- it costs, the cost is ZERO as your quarter is pushed right back out to you when you put the cart where you SHOULD put it anyway !

I would just point out that Publix has a lot of cart corrals. So, if you park next to a corral, you can take your cart to your vehicle, and leave the cart in the corral without needing to return it to the store. Very convenient.

Agree, but also think it can be interesting where a topic can lead ! Also the "hot button" factor is an interesting psychological factor. Interesting that a certain percentage of people are enraged at the thought of having to give up a quarter for even a few minutes, maybe half an hour at most until they get it back. While others believe it is just plain "wrong" to require any "deposit" for a cart. And for those folks, there are SO MANY places to shop that do not "require" the $.25 deposit. Frankly, I think the goal is to keep CUSTOMERS autos safer from scratches and damage from carts people just use and "let go"... every watch how many cars are hit by ONE cart on a really windy Florida day.But, fortunately, no one is forced to even take a cart at Aldi, most take their own shopping bags anyway.

I agree with the psyhological factor, but I don't agree with the vehicle damage factor. Aldi's has small, parallel parking spaces that are subject to getting door dings from an adjacent vehicle. On the other hand, Publix has large, angled parking spaces that allow you to park far enough away from the adjacent vehicle and avoid door dings.

I’m sorry, I didn’t read any posts from anyone who was “enraged”. I did see a post from someone who felt inconvenienced. I myself posted I won’t support a business that wants to play nanny. But I did suggest that if they were serious about getting carts returned they should make the deposit $100

I think I just posted it. If a business with carts wants to go that route, make the deposit $100. An irresponsible person isn’t going to become instantly responsible for $0.25

This is a long and winding thread, so I just wanted to clarify that my post above was not about those posters just saying they don’t like the Aldi cart quarter thing. That’s their prerogative.

Well stopped at Aldi on 301, coming from WaWa’s (pumpkin latte is back). Aldi advertised containers that I could use for potluck and leave with hostess, or for someone who is in need.

There was a person wandering the parking lot, offering to return your cart. Brings panhandling to a different theory. I guess some could care less about the quarter, seemed to snag about 1 in 3 carts

I went to Aldi's once and left empty handed. I was preparing a pizza and needed an onion and red bell pepper but I couldn't buy just one of each. Ended up at Publix.

I wish they would show up a Publix, Winn Dixie and Walmart. To many shoppers leave carts in parking lot to lazy to push to cart rack
