I like the fact that Publix has an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) even though Publix stock is not publicly traded.

Just imagine if publicly traded Walmart had offered stock to all of its employees.

Being a part “owner” of the company can improve employee attitude and commitment to the job — on any level.

Incentives.

And……

Oh yeah, about Aldi. . .you can find good cheeses there.

And I am OK with the cart thing. It has more pros than cons.

But really? I mean really? To take the quarter concept personally to the point of flying off the handle and threatening to shove carts all over the lot to make powerless employees’ jobs harder is. . .well. . .is. . .well, I just don’t know what to say about that…….

Strange that people would get so upset over the quarter buggy deposit,

Why do you think people are "so upset"? I'm not upset. I just think it is stupid for a business to place impediments like a cart fee and a plastic bag fee on their customers, when their competition does not. It's not good for business to inconvenience your customers.

I hate Aldi. They have a very limited selection of anything. I think it's a toss up between Aldi & Trader Joes to see which store can have the most food recalls. Eat their products at your own risk.

Not an Aldi fan.

Another reason why i only use Walmart if I have to. .
Still not a fan of Walmart and only shop there if that is the only store with the actual item I need.

But, if you shop at Aldi's it is NOT an inconvenience. Aldi's has a customer base that knows the protocol and follows it for the sake of lower prices.

Quarter cart fee is okay and I wish everyone used their own shopping bags to reduce plastic usage but aldi’s just seems to have limited choices and then I have to go elsewhere to get all that I want. Some items at publix are more expensive and some and winn dixie are more expensive. I did a price comparison item by item. Publix still gets my vote.

I'm not getting into a ideology debate on here but Aldi's is quite transparent about their ideologies and they don't align with mine.

So I choose not to support such businesses that use their profits to further push their ideologies.

Enjoy your Aldi's.

Apparently not *that* transparent. I have no clue what Aldi's ideologies are.

Never knew they had any except low prices. Are you sure you are not confusing them with another food chain?

I checked their website. They espouse a commitment to inclusivity in their hiring practices.

Wow. That's awful.

My tastes are very different from the person next to me. I shopped at Aldi twice, buying specific items, frozen pizza, ice cream, lemons. I didn’t like the pizza at all, ice cream was nothing to write home about, and the lemon while felt solid, was rotten inside. Compared cost with Kroger for basically same items and found the cost very close. Since Aldi doesn’t carry everything I need it’s a wasted extra trip.

I don’t drink cheap wine, if I am eating empty calories, their candy isn’t worth it for me. As far as the quarter, I don’t use their cart. I have reusable bags that I put my shopping in, then check out. I don’t know what others have put in that cart, so….

I hate to break your bubble, but virtually every publicly traded company is heavy into ESG and/or Woke these days (yes, some are worse than others, but Aldi is no Bud Light). It's going to be really tough to make all of your purchases for food, clothing, hardware, appliances, etc and still avoid companies that "don't align with your values".

Really ? It's interesting to see the opinion of others. My thinking was 360 degrees opposite. I love Aldi's items and wonderful fresh produce, U.S.A. meats, good cheese selection, etc. but most of all I love their parking lots that are always free of carts. Sure wish WM and others would do the same. I must say I AM surprised that people do put their carts back in the cart rack just to get their quarter back ! Thought maybe most people would not even bother with their quarter and just leave the carts all over the lot taking up parking spaces...but no, the system really does work ! It's amazing...people who ordinarily won't walk 10 feet to put a cart/buggy in a corral, but WILL put it back to retrieve their quarter !
