Agree. Their model is a German one. The European stores trade as Albrecht, I believe. We often shop at the store in Leesburg. Snobs can boycott and leave more room for us fans. ![]() |

We buy most of our fresh produce from Aldi. The bagged salads are 50% cheaper than publix and doesn't have the "knots"" that fresh express tries to pass off as salad. The squash, cucumbers, peppers, and tomatoes are all fresh and delicious.
We eat very very little meat, so we haven't tried it yet. The fruit salsa is also very good.

I haven't shopped at Aldi, but my SIL does. Earlier this summer my SIL was going back north, and she gave us her leftover perishables. One of the items was frozen Mahi. I also had one filet from Publix. The filet from Publix was not as nicely shaped and not as thick as the Aldi's Mahi.
I will be trying them when they open. Shopping for value throughout our lives is one of the reasons we can afford to be here. |

PLEASE FOLKS - DO NOT talk up Aldi too much. Allow the 'uppities' to think it's beneath them and continue shopping at Publix etc.
We found Aldi, after initial apprehension, to be a wonderful resource for particular items. Sure there are few if any name brands there - mostly house brands - but their quality is every bit as good as the $$$$ brands. Produce is very good with high turnover for freshness - and their meats etc are fabulous. I also think their $.25 deposit shopping cart idea is super. Good to have more variety down south. I assume it will not be golf cart accessible. But may bring more store variety in that area than the usual TV fare... Now - for you uppities - disregard everything said here... DO NOT shop at Aldi.

Great store, one bad point is they are often out of stock on sale items, especially meat. Very nice, hard working employees

What's in the near future still hoping for a Trader Joe's. I am selective if I am buying at Aldi. I'm still used to buy my meat from the butcher or Whole Foods, neither of which are close enough to the bubble so may have to change my ways when I'm down full-time.

In Michigan, Mom and I like their fresh pizza. The 17" supreme is $5.49! We take it home and cut it in 6 or 8 pieces. We leave two pieces out for dinner and put the rest in the freezer for another week. Add a little more onion, mushroom and cheese and bake for 17 minutes. Yummy!

This is great news! Yes Aldi mostly stocks its own, generic brands, but is that really any different than buying any Publix branded item? We don't do all of our shopping there, but there certainly are deals to be had. Looking forward to it being a little closer that the 441 location.

I don't know where you're coming from, but nothing could be farther from the truth. You are completely either misinformed or wrong (or both) with your comment.
I have been al Aldi's customer for a number of years in two separate cities and the items are fresh, the store is clean and the employees accommodating. |

If you are so wealthy or up your own backside, go pay double at Publix.
Pick and choose what you buy, then finish your shop wherever you wish. Thats how we do it. If you are a 'label shopper,' take Publix bags to pack in. (No bags supplied by store.) If you have not tried it . Don't knock it. |
