Hi to all. I'm seriously thinking of moving to TV and will be going on a preview visit in September. I'm a single woman and will be coming alone. My question: any suggestions on how I can meet other people during my visit so I don't have to eat alone at the restaurants. The main reason I want to move to TV is that all my friends here are married and it's difficult to find someone to do things with. So I end up either as the third wheel or doing things alone. Any ideas?

There is another post regarding singles you might wasnt to check out. I doubt you'll have any problems meeting people. I'm sure if you go the either square and hit the dance floor or sit at the bar while waiting for your table it won't be hard at all to drum up a conversation. Everyone my wife and I have met have been more then friendly. That's one of the many reasons we picked TV as our next home (21 days). Good luck and get ready for the thrill of a lifetime.

Sounds like The Villages might be the perfect place for you!
Here is a recent thread that might interest you. Is TV fun for singles? Enjoy your visit!

Welcome to you.
You need to get in touch with Kathie I. She is single and has a group of single friends who are always doing something fun. If I were there I would go and eat with you. I am married but I have many friends who are single. |

If you golf, don't hesitate to go by yourself. Either make a tee time or go to one of the executive courses (also can call in the morning) to see if there's a no-show or an opening for 1 golfer. There usually is. I am not living there full-time yet, but every trip I golf 3 or 4 times a week by myself and ALWAYS meet friendly people. Ask lots of questions, tell them you're there to check out TV (alone) and maybe someone will invite you to join them for dinner. Ask for restaurant recommendations and if you are really enjoying their company, ask if they'd like to continue the conversation over dinner. All they can say is no, but maybe they'll say yes!
Also go to some pools in the afternoon and strike up conversations with all the floaters. Check out the posts about dancing at Havana CC (it's a fairly short golf cart ride from the Lifestyle Preview cabanas - take a map). Even if you don't like to dance you can probably find a group of TOTVers to sit with while you eat. Check out the club activities in the Recreation News (available online - link from thevillages.com) and go to something you have an interest in. Talk to some of the other Lifestyle Preview visitors at that pool. Go to Happy Hour somewhere and just start conversations. I've moved about 15 times and have found The Villages to be absolutely the easiest place to meet people. Retirees have more time for new friends and lots are also new and looking for friends. |
