Has anyone ever thought about how much money it cost in electricity to keep your golf cart charged? We bought a gas cart 3 months ago and our SECO bill came down considerable. That's the only thing that I can think of that would make the bill drop so much.

Personally I can't take the noise and smell. Of course each to their own. Money wise they must be similar. Enjoy the villages and drive safely.

I used to feel the same way but the new ( 2014 ) are much quieter than the older ones. Noise level is down also. But must admit I really missed my electric cart for awhile. But just wondering if anyone had noticed a difference in electric bill after going with gas.

I drove my electric cart 43 miles, then plugged it into my charger which was plugged into a meter that monitors, volts, amps kwh and if you plug in your electricity rate per kwh, it will total cost. It cost $1.11 to recharge the cart.

At $3.63 a gallon of gas that's equivalent to getting over 140 miles per gallon. So I don't think the reduction in your SECO bill would offset your increased fuel bill, as most gas carts get no more than 40 mpg.

I understand what you're saying. I guess I'm looking for some answers to my question that will explain why my bill reduced by 50.00 for the last 3 months after buying the gas cart. Thanks for your comment.

I had heard about 7 years ago when we first bought our electric cart that the cost to charge it was approx $9/month. Of course, that depends on how much you use it and elec rates have changed over time.

Someone once posted a cost comparison between elec and gas and the cost per mile was pretty close....taking into account cost to replace batteries every three years along with monthly elec usage vs gasoline consumption.

Possibly you have not been home as much...since you got the gas cart?

At that rate of savings; the gas cart will have paid for itself in about 13 years...

Your bill reduced $50/month or $50 for 3 months? Based on a very informative post by gustavo, it seems there should be some reduction.

There are many variables of course in an electric bill. I actually am surprised to hear that any electric bill goes DOWN in the summer in Florida with the additional requirements of AC.
